: Question Airbag Warning Light ppiper 01-20-2011, 09:21 AM The SRS Airbag Warning Light in my '95 T100 comes on and stays on from time to time while I'm driving; it has been doing this for several months. Is there a quick fix other than taking it to Toyota dealer "immediately" as recommended by the owner's manual? SC T100 01-20-2011, 10:41 AM My guess is that you've got a bad sensor/module. You can have the codes read at many auto parts stores. That should get you started. Toyota will likely charge a diagnostic fee, but may be able to pinpoint the problem more specifically. If you are handy, you may be able to change it out yourself. Me, I don't want anything to with airbags...I will leave that to those more experienced than me. Good luck! ppiper 01-20-2011, 05:22 PM My guess is that you've got a bad sensor/module. You can have the codes read at many auto parts stores. That should get you started. Thanks SC. I tried pulling the fuse for the ECU as recommended by another post... and that did fix the problem... for a few minutes... now it's flickering while I'm driving. The spookiest part of this problem is waiting for the airbag to deploy while I'm driving  ... so I will probably take it in to the dealer and let them have a look. This has been a most excellent truck for the 10 years I have owned it!
ps: Charleston is 'da BOMB! SC T100 01-21-2011, 05:42 AM Thanks SC. I was afraid that would happen. But no worries on the deploy...my understanding is that they deactivate when there is a problem. I can't say it's never happened, but I doubt it will go off. You start messign with wiring and it might though...there was a guy on one of these forums who was working on his seats and set off the seat airbags (newer truck)!
And yes, Charleston is fantatstic. Born and raised in the area. Funny thing though, I just moved back from Fort Myers about a year ago. I was down there for a few years working. I miss the spectacualr and year-round fishing!
PS. I have driven right through your town quite a few times (driving between Charleston and fort Myers). So my T100 has been in close proximity to yours! Small world. I really want to camp/fish on Lochloosa at some point. That's abeautiful lake.
Oh, and I think you posted over in the T100 section of Toyota Nation. That is the best forum for the T100 in my opinion. There are quite a few extremely knowledgable guys on there and the tone is always friendly and helpful (unlike many/most internet forums), not insulting and mean. And there is TONS of good info. Unfortunately, this one is trafficked very little. It has good info, just not a lot of responders. ppiper 01-21-2011, 08:19 AM I was afraid that would happen. I'm just a few miles from Lochloosa; supposedly one of the best fishing lakes in the WORLD! I think Wade Boggs still runs a fishcamp there... was called "Yankee Landing" when he was playing for the Yankees but changed it to "Finway Park" when he was traded to the Red Sox. Love this area... have lived on a lake here over 30 years.
Anyhow, my T100 is overdue for a timing chain so I think I'll take it in to Gatorland Toyota and let them have a look. My "check engine" light came on this week as well so I'll have then check that too since the remedies I tried didn't work.
I was not aware that I had posted in a different forum...just a newbie here. Thanks again for your response. SC T100 01-21-2011, 08:34 AM Oh wow...my mistake. There was another new member over on Toyota Nation, from Florida, with a 2WD extra cab with 149K, and had the airbag light come on. What a strange coincidence! My mistake. :D
Yes, the timing belt is due every 60-90K. But, it won't kill your motor if it breaks as the 3.4 is a non-interference motor...it'll just leave you standed.
As for the CEL, you can get Autozone and the like to read the code, or get a code reader yourself. If you search or post the codes, many guys can help you. My guess is the o2 sensors are going...common for the mileage. Check around for the best prices and the correct ones to use...don't use Bosch...Denso or NGK are the way to go (same with spark plugs). :tu: SC T100 01-21-2011, 08:37 AM Ps. yes, I heard some monster bass have come out of Lochloosa. Hilarious on the Wade Boggs camp names. I have seen him a few times on saltwater fishing shown when i was in Fort Myers.
Looks like I need to learn how to fish in the freshwater as all I used to do was chase the snook/red/trout slams (any anything else I could catch).
Good luck with fixing the truck. Just be aware the dealer may charge an arm and a leg for realtively easy stuff. ppiper 01-21-2011, 08:45 AM Oh wow...my mistake. How do I get to the T100 forum on Toyota Nation? Is it part of this forum?
Where exactly are the 02 sensors located? I crawled under yesterday and saw something located between the catalytic converter and muffler; is this it? Is there more than one? I don't suppose you would have a diagram from a service manual? Also, my muffler and tailpipe are rusted and need to be replaced; could this cause the CEL to come on?
Sorry for all the questions, but you seem well-informed.:ts: SC T100 01-21-2011, 10:56 AM How do I get to the T100 forum on Toyota Nation? Is it part of this forum?

No prob...that's what forums are for.
Here is the TN one: T-100 - Toyota Forums :: Toyota Nation (http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=60)
And yes, you saw one of the O2 sensors...there are two, one pre-cat and one post...they tell the computer what to do based upon the exhaust. Do a search on the O2 sensors and a few different threads will come up. There is a bunch of good info in them. I don't have a diagram to post, as posting the FSM (service manuals) tends to be illegal on the forums due to copyright restrictions. However, a Haynes/Chilton manual will get you where you need to be 80% of the time.
Rusting of the pipes generally wont cause a CEL, unless the rust has caused holes ahead of the sensors,...then maybe. Mexhaust was swiss cheese from the tailpipe to the cat when i got my truck and I never got a CEL. It is most likely the sensors, especially if the truck seems to continue running fine, though you may see a decease in mpgs as the computer runs rich (safety mode) when the O2 sensors are bad (I believe) to make sure the motor isn't hurt. :D BamZipPow 06-04-2011, 11:59 AM I Just got Subwoofers hooked up into my car and they had to undo the battery and what not for the wiring and now my car gives me a message saying "SRS Airbag Service Urgent" the guys told me it was because they had unplugged the battery and it should go away if I drive about 30miles, I've driven over 100 and it's still there and the Volvo Dealer wants 110.00 to fix the light.
Is this fer a Volvo or a Toyota T-100? If it's the T-100...this is what I did... ;)
