This is by far the BEST oil filter wrench I have bought! I went through several and this one is a keeper. The TOY640 is what my dealer uses and the one I highly recommend. (The only one I recommend)!

Toyota "improved" the oil filter?

Yes they did. Its no longer the canister oil filter you can remove by hand. You now have a filter housing unit with a drain plug for the housing unit and the filter element fits inside the housing unit. Its alittle more of a pain than the normal oil filter. After 30 years of oil changes, this is the first filter housing unit with a filter element inside I have had to change. After doing this once, its like any other filter change.

Here is what the housing unit looks like. The prime reason you need a special tool for 2007 and up Tundras.

I have to agree that the TOY640 is awesome. It was well worth the price I paid!

I performed the first oil change on my 2011 Tundra tonight. Used an OEM brand, 64mm Filter Wrench from AutoZone. It is an aluminum wrench, so no problems with splitting or slipping like others have noted with the plastic ones on other threads. It worked well. Only minor issue is that it sticks when full tight or full loose, there is a spot in between where it will slides right off. But after loosening, or tightening, it stays stuck very tightly. Wasn't an problem, just noting it. $9.99, OEM # 25412.

TOY640 wrench I have also sticks when full tight or removal. Just reverse ever so slightly and it releases.
