I have 60K on my odo and wanted to know if anyone had a step by step instruction in cleaning the TB.

Also, does Highlanders come with some kind of releaning the air flow once the TB is taken out. I am hoping it is all mechanical and I don't want a high idle...

thx

You don't necessarily need to dismount the throttle body to give it an adequate cleaning.

You will need:

1. a can of throttle body cleaner,
2. a lint-free rag, and
3. two plastic toothbrushes.

* * Do not spray throttle body cleaner directly into the throttle assembly! * *

Instead, spray the rag until damp and wipe out the oily residue and grime. Pay particular attention to the throat/throttle plate margin, the edge of the throttle plate, and the throttle plate's pivot shafts. For extra grime and hard-to-reach areas, scrub with the toothbrush and wipe clean. You can use the other toothbrush to hold the throttle plate open. The plastic handle will not gouge the edge of the throttle plate.

After a throttle body cleaning, the ECU will probably set a slightly higher idle than normal. This is typical, and the ECU will "relearn" the proper idle setting in short order. :tu:

Thx for ur resps.. Now, I looked thro the entire intake from the outside to find the throttle cable.
I couldn't find the cable that moves the butterfly plate, so I guess it is all electronic sensors controlling air intake.

Can someone confirm my observation?
