Ok, this is what I have in mind. If anyone has seen the new Nissan 350z, they will agree that it is a decent looking vehicle. If anyone has payed close attention, they will notice that the antenna that comes on the vehicle is tight as hell. Not too long and not short and stubby. I know this can be done but it would probably take alot of work. What exactly would I have to get in order to do the conversion of the 350z antenna onto the Tundra?

I'm not sure exactly what you are talking about. Can you post a picture of the 350Z's antenna?

All I want to do is switch antenna's. Use the 350z antenna on the Tundra. What else besides the base would I need in order for it to work ?

That's the best picture I could find of what the antenna looks like.

Here (http://www.my350z.com/gallery/albuq88/aab) is a better picture. Click on the picture and it will show a larger view.

As for doing the mod I'll bet if you got one you could hard wire it to the stock antenna plug. I'm really not sure how those antennas connect from insde the fender. Perhaps it would just be a plug. You would want to make sure the new antenna was the same impedence as the stock antenna. Most likely it would be though. I'm pretty sure all auto antennas would be the same. If not the antenna wont work well.

You ought to see if the antenna just unscrews. Perhaps it would be a universal screw size. From the looks of it it looks like the antenna and the base are all 1 piece.

Thanks for the pic. It's not all one piece. I have a friend that has a 350z and he gave me his antenna when he replaced it with an S2000 antenna that I gave him. The only problem i'm having is that the screw on the bottom of the antenna is too small for the existing tundra antenna base so it does not fit. Maybe that will give you guys alittle better idea as far as what needs to be done for this to work. BTW, most of the guys on www.my350z.com want to get rid of their antenna's. I'm sure alot of you would like the antenna if seen in person. Check it out and if there is a solution to what i'm trying to do, maybe I would have found us yet another option to that piece of flimsy wire we call an antenna :tu:

I did this on my previous vehicle. I got the antenna from a VW that a friend had exchanged for the stubby one. Then found a 2 sided threaded adapter. One side fit perfectly onto the antenna and the other fit perfectly into the antenna base. It took me a while to find the adapter though.

Where would I go to find an adapter?

I found it at a bolt store 3 or 4 years ago, I was in there for days trying to look for something that would work and came across a bin of 2 sided bolts. Fished through it and found one.

Guys,

I'm making a buy on 15" stainless billet antennas. Cost should be around $24.00 , they will screw right into stock base with included adapter. If interested post interest in this thread, and I'll include you in this buy.

Billet Antenna Thread Post interest Here (http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20912)
