I have a 1999 tacoma that has 340,000 miles on it -I have kept it in great shape and love it and want it to run again. It started and then died about 45 seconds later -it ran rough b4 it died now it wont start. It will almost sound like it wants to start but just wont. Timing beltis still on. I know it has a lot of miles but everything works so well and it looks so good I just cant get rid of it. Never had any trouble with it except for the radiator. I have learned to do alot of my own mechanics thru the years because of just getting taken at the shops, but this I just needsome help getting started in the right direction. Please help. I have done regular oil changes and maintenence on it. I have never even had to put a new exhaust on it. Love my truck.

well it doesn't take much for a engine to run
AIR
SPARK
FUEL

air..well air filter clean?
are you getting a spark ???

and can you smell fuel ( or see any when you pull a spark plug?

now does it make any attempt to start? farting and burping are attempts to start ( backfires through intake or exhaust?

and think your model takes a timing BELT at 100K miles ( not sure)

and could be clogged fuel filter or bad fuel pump.
