So I’m pretty close to going ahead to do the timing belt service on my 2003 Sequoia and will replace:
Timing belt, serpentine belt, water pump, idler bearings, tension bearing, thermostat, upper and lower radiator hoses.
I’m Probably going to get the kit from volkstoy motor sports along with a few OEM parts.
I’ve got access to most of the tools I will need and will be buying/renting a few more things, but I still can’t get one thing off my mind.
What if I break the crank bolt when removing the pulley?I’ve got nice impact wrench that goes up to 550 ft. lbs. tightening & 700 ft. lbs removal along with breaker bars….ect.
However, I’ve got a feeling the crank bolt has not ever been loosened since assembly in 03.
Does it have lock-tite on it?
The write-ups, manuals, and additional research seem great, but if I snap that bolt, I need to be ready to get it taken care of.
I know many have said things about huge breaker bars taking the bolt out and how they thought it broke and there is no way that I could snap it off.
However, if I do, what tools would I need to have it removed, or will I have to tow to the dealer? I’m not sure an ez out will remove a bolt torque in over 150 ft. lbs.
Has anyone ever heard of snapping this bolt off?
Thanks!
