I have the Yellow Top Optima battery sitting on top of the battery bracket that came with the battery. I also have the stock battery hook that fits on top of the original battery on the Yellow Top now too, but even with the bracket, the battery is still slightly shorter then the stock one, therefore the hook doesn't secure the battery down. My issue is that the battery isn't fully secured to the engine bay frame, thus causing it to move about 1-2" to the left after sometime of driving and turning. Any ideas on how I can secure it? It doesn't look like I can screw the battery bracket to the frame either because there are no holes for it unless if I make some.

I put a small block of wood between the battery and the top bracket, been there for 8 yrs. now without incident.

blue torch fab dot com has brackets that fit the optima. its like 40 bucks and with a little customization it will fit the stock tundra setup easily.

i moved the tab on the stock piece to fit my kinetik battery. just a lil welding needed.

or you can go to a car audio shop and they should have generic battery brackets that adjust to fit different ranges of batteries, thats what i used in my 4runner with my kinetik battery

hope this helps.

Optima manufactures a plastic height adapter block (called the "G24 Adapter", part #242-0018) that lifts the battery to OEM height (when required). I would imagine any Optima battery dealer would have them just sitting around and would probably just give one to you for free.

Also, you could probably get 3 cheap, high-density, neoprene computer mouse pads, glue them together with RTV sealant, and use that to lift it. It would be better than wood and would also be quiet.

I have that...and its still not tall enough. I might try the piece of wood idea. Or velcro strips on top of the frame and bottom of the bracket. Good idea or no?

I would just place styrofoam around the battery on 4 sides. Slide it in from the top nice and snug.
Various thickness available at the Depot. It won't go anywhere and will work better when it's cold cause it's now insulated. You could also put a piece under the battery to bring it up to the height you want for the bracket to secure properly.
Just my two cents...

I used furniture foam as spacers -- that seem to work just fine.

Good idea or no?I have the Optima battery and the spacer (red) and it fits fine and secure. Does your spacer look like this one? They do come in colors as well, if folks are curious. (black, yellow, and red). I would try to
get it installed correctly before resorting to wood or some other filler that does not seem to go there, IMO. I have a pic of my install, if that
will help any.

Okay, that part is okay. Is the problem that you cannot torque down the nut
on the J hook to have everything tight? If so, a simple spacer on top and then the nut and it will tighten up. (what I did to mine). If that is not the problem, need a pic of your install to see what is possibly wrong.
