I am coming from a BMW 550i with sport suspension and am new to the 4x4 world of suspension....
I am the proud owner of a 2011 tundra crewmax SR5 with 5.7L. the SR5 model upgrades the supsension to bilstein front and rear shock abosrbers.
Anyone know which model of shocks come on the canadian SR5's?
How are these an upgrade from the base package shocks?
TRD sway bar on my shopping list...is this a self install item?

unless it was a trd, it doesn't have the blisteins on the SR5 unless they changed it up with the 2011's. easiest way to tell is to look under the truck, if they're yellow and blue they're blisteins, if not they are the regular toyota shocks. Not sure what the part numbers are.
The blisteins are a bit stiffer shocks and are gas filled versus the i think oil filled stock shocks... not sure on that one though, someone else should know for sure.
Sway bar from what i've read is very easy bolt up, I think theres a DIY somewhere if you search

thanks BLamb, yeah, my new truck is the TRD off-road package with Bilstein. this big truck does not corner like my old car, so I am wanting to stiffen up the suspension and add the sway bar.
just need to find a better deal...canadian dealers want double what the american dealers charge for the sway bar :shocked3d: this is a matter of principle for me, not cost :mellow3d:
+1 on the sway bar. Best mod I've done. Do a search on TS and you will find a very good post of how to install. The only difficult part is finding someone to borrow a good torque wrench from if you don't already have one. Congrats on the new truck.
