I'm in need of replacing my rear wheel bearings on my 2000 toyota tundra. Rear housing for all 1 gen tundras is the 8.4". Which is the same on most tacomas. I didn't want to take the rear shafts to a shop and someone else press the bearings. So, here's my make shift home brew bearing puller.
Two tools were needed for this, one a friend had fabricated using part of a taco axle housing and adding a plate to the top. Second, a 12 ton hydraulic 3 jaw puller purchased from Harbor Freight. Below is a pic of how it was all set-up. A few strokes of the puller and the bearings popped right off.
So, anyone in the Bay Area needing any help with replacing rear wheel bearings, let me know.
