Having some problems with my '01 V8 Tundra. P0171 and P0174 codes. I cleaned the MAF, replaced the fuel filter, PCV, and did other routine maintenance.
I borrowed a fuel pressure gauge and hooked it up on the fuel rail. Pressure is in the 20psi range on the driver side rail while spec is in the 40psi range.
I'm pretty certain the low pressure is caused by the fuel pump since I've read this model year had trouble with them. The FPR valve seems ok in the sense that it isn't leaking fuel through the vacuum line and the engine can stall out in the higher RPM ranges rather than just at idle. The pump is also very loud.. I never remember hearing it in the past.
Should I stick with Denso for replacement? There seems to be a good and bad model number but I'm not sure which is which. I also see third-party pumps on ebay for $30-$120.. any experience with alternatives?
