Long time reader first time poster. Thanks to all for capturing and sharing so much good info!

I share this minor acomplishment for the good of the lodge and because research online had not come up with what was in my mind a good solution and feel my approach may be a bit more elegant.

I have a 2010 Sequoia and needed to install a Tekonsh P3 Brake Controler. You can find their installation guide here (http://www.tekonsha.com/content/products.aspx?lvl=3&parentid=1400&catID=1435&part=90195). This covers the general practice of installation and wiring is easy with the included map.

But I didn't like the options for installing under the column where it would beat my knees to death and not look very pretty in a 56k ride. As shown in this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sohcn22O-v8).

The following illustration on how to remove the "Shifter Trim Panel (http://www.metraonline.com/files/products/INST99-8220.pdf)" to gain access is very useful.

Also, it was difficult to route the cables and found that routing them under the carpet was much easire and seems less likely to interfere with the real brake and accelerator pedals.

As a novice, I'm also thankful for this posting (http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forums/tundra/104493-tekonsha-p3-modded-dash-install/) which inspired as well as instructed that the switch on the bottom must remain accessable. However, moving the buttons seems a bit drastic.

So in the attached pictures you will find my solution. Which seems to work very nicely. However, I haven't tested it on a long haul.

The device is realitviely snug but my one concern is that it may shake too much and cause spurious braking. If that happens I will use cauking of some kind to better secure the unit.

Nice install, must've been a pain. What the reach like from the steering wheel? I've gotten almost automatic for my reach - test every haul, boost through mountain pass descents - to just to the right of column install.

I don't have a lot of towing experience and have yet to use the device for a long haul.

With that said, I'm average 5'11" and I can easily operate the thing. When prototyping, it felt a little better to me than to he side fo the column where most would put something like this.
