sounds good lets get this rolling! Tim4x4 06-29-2011, 12:54 PM is this installed or just for the parts? Tundra4surf 06-29-2011, 01:13 PM its for the parts, not to much work to install the morimoto kit. It fits the existing setup of the headlight, you will take the cover off, take out the old bulb, insert the new, and reseal the cover back on, check out the link up top carados 06-29-2011, 01:16 PM IM in if we get to 20 SANDERS 07-01-2011, 09:49 PM Go ahead and count me in too. 7. Randomwalk101 randomwalk101 07-08-2011, 10:14 PM Btw there is a new fx-r 2.0 projector that is better than the older one with should and clip to hold. Can we get that projector instead? Marky_Mark 07-09-2011, 06:05 AM Since I would want the bi-xenon too, I would for sure run a "dummy" projector for my high beam area(to save a few $$), or just go the with full blown projectors for both. how many people are we shooting for? We have to wait for everyone to pay? What if a few doesn't? We wait forever? randomwalk101 07-11-2011, 06:48 AM Btw there is a new fx-r 2.0 projector that is better than the older one with should and clip to hold. Can we get that projector instead?
I talk to TS at TRS and I was informed that they only have the new FX-R v2.0 now. That makes the decision easier. Let's hope the v2.0 is really better than the original..
BTW, I guess we need to talk to Matt since other people at TRS have no idea of the existence of this GB. :o Tundra4surf 07-11-2011, 07:37 AM So what's the discount? 1 people =1% off up to 25%?

Workin on it now man, I thought there were a lot more people interested in this mod...No you will not wait forever, I am waiting on a reply from them, already sent them an email. Like most all group buys we will need people to place orders to get the discount. Once a sufficient amount of orders have been placed, kits will be shipped. I can setup a time frame with them, for example a week, and post the discount code. Then from there I assume the group buy will be a go or no go depending on how many orders we can get in. Right now we have at least 8 or 9 definite orders. fishmonger 07-11-2011, 10:12 AM add me to the list - just found this today in the Gen2 forum. youre in, i would just figure out a way to delete your high beams, dual projectors would be kind of sweet though fishmonger 07-12-2011, 12:28 PM What do you guys plan on doing with your high beam section, just abandon it?
I'll probably run the original high beam in parallel with the HID high beam, or just disconnect the bulb. Can't ever have enough light, though. I would probably do some HID fogs before doing dual HID high beams. Just too darn expensive to add a second projector if you're already getting high beams with this kit. And is there even a highbeam-only projector anywhere?

i watched it twice. update your Flash player maybe? Could still be a firewall issue on your end if you're trying to watch at work. Player will load but not the video. Have been reading up on hid planet...so far not too positive (quality control issue). Let's hope our batch is okay.

Becareful if you're buying this style projector. FUNGUS 07-15-2011, 08:36 AM Yeah. Looks like the output line is bent down on either side. Doesnt seem level. I wonder what TRS is going to do about it. randomwalk101 07-17-2011, 06:54 AM They said they will continue selling them after tweaking them up. Not sure if the FX-R 2.0 will even stand up to the proven 1.0 now. fishmonger 07-19-2011, 10:49 AM interesting thread. Not sure if I want a total hack job in my truck. I certainly can spend the extra money on Acura TL projects and just get the damn thing done right. Washers to re-adjust the angle of the light source against the projector? On a product that is advertised with a beam pattern photo nobody has been able to replicate? Tundra4surf 07-19-2011, 12:00 PM Those who responded to this thread and are listed please PM for the coupon code. It will be 15% off and it is limited to 15 people. The coupon code will run out after 15 people have ordered. The minimum order is $225. tridacna 07-20-2011, 01:16 PM So what projectors did you guys decide to get? drivensite 07-20-2011, 11:55 PM Was gonna order 2 sets, but waited over a week for a reply to some questions from Matt and never heard back from him so I'm gonna stay away from this one. FUNGUS 07-21-2011, 09:33 AM Did you try calling them? They get overwhelmed sometimes with emails, as you can imagine. fishmonger 07-21-2011, 09:47 AM I am still on the fence - still doing some reading in their forum. The FX-R kit is a no go for me. Not going to touch that with a 10 foot pole after I saw how much trouble people were having with these and how different the beam pattern of delivered units was from what they show on their site as a sample. This may be totally overblown, but I'm not going to put anything mediocre into my truck, given I actually have nothing to complain about with the halogen lights in it. Best lights I ever had on any vehicle I owned. The only way to justify the retrofit costs is to go way better than it is now. I'd kick myself if the end result after hours of work is just a different color headlight and possibly new problems I don't have right now.
The "easier to install" Morimoto sounds like the way to go if you're picking from the suggested kits. What I don't get: why is it easier to install? Plus, the beam pattern shown for those projectors doesn't really thrill me very much compared to other options in their lineup.
Basically, right now I feel like getting Acura TL projectors with Denso ballast and proper harness, etc. Yes, easily $150 more than the recommended kits, but then I know I am getting the goods that will deliver. I'll probably end up calling them to get word on what shrouds work with the TL projectors and if I have anything else to worry about in the Tundra headlights when choosing these larger body projectors. I'm no fan of small headlights anyway, so if they fit, that's where I will be going. Will decide today. FUNGUS 07-21-2011, 01:31 PM If you want top of the line, go with the LS460's. Those are EPIC! Seriously, I think the board member Pazorelli has those and the width and clarity are the best money can buy. I know they are not cheap but if you want top of the line, I wouldnt look at anything else. randomwalk101 07-22-2011, 08:31 PM Have you guys ordered yet? What did you get? tridacna 07-25-2011, 11:40 AM Looks like they are closed this week while they move. I guess that give me another week to figure out what I want. Tundra4surf 07-25-2011, 12:55 PM quick note there is a hiccup with the code its taking 15 cents off not percent, I emailed them to fix it Tundra4surf 07-26-2011, 10:59 AM Discount code is working now! Tundra4surf 08-04-2011, 07:37 AM TundraSolutions15 is the code for 15% off, only two people have used it so there are 13 spots left as of now 9rider 08-27-2011, 09:35 AM is the code still valid? Tundra4surf 08-29-2011, 07:19 AM should be until 15 people use it try it 9rider 09-12-2011, 04:14 PM Just got mine from TRS. Morimoto projector wire harness and shroud. I reuse my MC ballast and use those spare H1 from my cousin.
Before I know about TRS, I bought the $120 completed set from China to mod in my bike [hid, projector,CCL eyes, ballast , relay - all were very very fragile]. Relay gave up just 1 month, end up rewired almost everything. Next was the solenoid and angel eyes.
So , just an advice to anyone wants to get a complete set $120 , have to prepare to fix it.
Morimoto projector's housing are solid built .
Wire harness is good with thicker wire and good relay. I also want to get the angel eyes but it will be hard to fix when it goes death ( and believe me , it will run out fast way before your hid bulbs , because we always want the eyes on all the time :))). So i will just do the head light. Will post pics soon. Marky_Mark 09-12-2011, 07:15 PM ^^Good to know! Can't wait to see your finished product! 9rider 09-15-2011, 01:42 PM http://imageshack.us/g/585/dsc4827.jpg/
Baking - check clearance make sure your plastic housing won't touch any metal walls of the oven. I use 2 wood sticks soak in water over night on bottom.
unbelievable - this taping process was taking the most time out of me. I don't have angel eyes so I decided to leave the chrome to do the job as angel eyes
The look after paint.
Projector - Need to wait my cousin for his HID bulbs. Marky_Mark 09-15-2011, 04:48 PM Very nice!! tridacna 09-16-2011, 05:59 PM Mine is taking longer to finish than I anticipated.
Before I got in on the group buy I bought a damaged ls460 headlight on ebay, then I ended up getting the FXR projectors. When I was testing them out, I noticed they had a narrow beam. I started messing around with the ls460 and found out it has a much better spread than the FXR. So I decided to get another ls460 projector for the low beams and get mini morimotos for the high beams.
Now I know why pazorell went with these, they give a much better spread of light.
Anyway, I painted the black chrome on one of the top reflectors and it came out great. One of my halos had some dead spots so I had to wait for them to send me another one before I could paint the other reflector. After I made the brackets to mount the ls460 projectors, I painted the other three reflectors. The other three came out horrible, the paint was dull and pasty. So I ended up just going with satin black.
Now that the brackets are done and the reflectors are painted I have to mount them and line them up.
Here's how they look so far. I'm keeping the shrouds chrome.

As to say thank you to TRS for their good deal and good product, I leave the sticker on for awhile as I promise Mark so some of dudes local will know where the light from. 9rider 09-17-2011, 03:54 PM Still don't know how to adjust aim horizontally. The light beam aim get too close and cross each other at 50 feet. I want to adjust it straight and parallel each other but don't know how. I don't want they parallel but off to a side.( not straight ) . Wish I have laser level tools or optic leveler. FUNGUS 09-17-2011, 04:48 PM The adjuster in the top corner of the headlight should adjust them horizontally. However, if they are that out that they cross at 50 feet, there could be some bad news in your future. Youll probably have to crack them back open and readjust, I dont think that you can adjust out that much.... 9rider 09-17-2011, 05:20 PM I knew about the screw to adjust it but don't know how to get it straight . All I can do is estimate using my EYES devices :). Hope that the screws have enough left or I have to ask my wife to bake my cake again. hahah. Really don't have time now to adjust. Wife ask me for the trip to her parents house, 4 hours driving, I will post some pictures of light pattern later so guys can help me out with the problem. Thanks. 9rider 09-19-2011, 09:41 PM OK, can't fix it. Either my projector is suck or the bulbs don't give out enough power. I tried to move the cut off step far a part ( so they don't cross at close range ) and I have a dark out hole right in middle of 2 beams. The right arch of driver side beam too short , it can't cover - reach - meet up with the passenger side. 9rider 09-19-2011, 10:00 PM http://http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=65891&stc=1&d=1316494559
It is not the wood door, it is a dark spot in there. Am it doing it the right way. -How far apart should 2 step cut-off lines be? At given of 10 feet? 20 feet? 50 feet? Or is it just the crap bulbs from my cousin that don't have enough power or out of alignment?
Wife ask me if the lens is crack so the light beam have a step cut off , then told me that I waste all time and money and the oven for a stupid light that make her dizzy :argue:
My car park at about 15 feet away and 2 step cut off about 4 feet of each other and still can't cover the missing spot. Johnny_5 09-19-2011, 10:20 PM That's what mine look like. I haven't measured how far apart the steps are, but they're mounted 5 feet apart on the truck, so you're gonna have a space. 9rider 09-19-2011, 10:38 PM Can't sleep till it fix. Drove around and found an empty lot have a nice wall and snap some picture ( BOA parking lot - hoped cop wouldn't show up) . You can see the missing spot right there. I parked at 25 feet away . They do have nice light out put on surround . But when I had 4 hours driving last night , the black out spot in middle drove me crazy , especially when surround was brighter , I couldn't clearly see the road ahead . Please help. FUNGUS 09-20-2011, 07:49 AM The separation looks ok now. Just adjust the right one so that the lower cutoff is level with the upper cutoff on the left one. The right headlight is usually a touch higher than the left. The left is normally lower for oncoming traffic. 9rider 09-20-2011, 09:52 PM I did it in the beginning. It look weird with 3 different cutoff line like that. PagalDesi4Life 10-05-2011, 10:31 PM how difficult would you guys say was it when converting your stock halogen headlamps to fit these retrokits? 9rider 10-05-2011, 11:02 PM It wasn't hard. Just time consuming. If you get enough information and get stuffs and tools ready, it just as easy as changing brake pads. It is addictive though. After I'd done mine, still thinking I don't have enough light. ( I have HID fog and bixenon). I will go after quat soon. MrOverSt 10-08-2011, 09:22 PM Ill take the FX-R Stage III DaddyOS 10-10-2011, 04:37 PM Please add me in. Is this still available? Thanks! MrOverSt 10-24-2011, 12:08 PM Is this still going or what? I think when you mention the discount code from Tundra solution , you will get 15% off. |
