Im lookin at a 94 tacoma, the head gasket blew in the orginal engine so they replaced it with a 3.0L from a 97 4 runner. The engine only has 90,000km on it, just wondering if anyone had some helpfull informtaion on the engine.

There was no tacoma in 1994. Just the toyota truck. On the engine, the 3.0 is susceptible to head gasket failure right around your mileage. Give or take a few thousand. The head gasket recall is only good for one time. After that its owner responsibility. Not a hard job, just time consuming. I would go for a 96 to 04 Tacoma with the 3.4l V-6. That is a bulletproof engine combo and will last forever. Because of that, they hold resale value better and will cost you more up front, but in the long term will end up being cheaper.

I had a 93 4x4 with the 3L V6 automatic and the head gasket was replaced Twice. 1st time at about 50,000 and 2nd time at 130,000. I really liked the truck except it didn't have the power for freeway driving, off road OK. I have a 2004 4x4 now with the 3.4L and the power is night and day different, much better.
