: Billet Parts Possibility Marky_Mark 07-30-2011, 06:51 AM This thread kind of spins off my thread for the radiator foam piece alternative...I have been on a journey for a company to make billet parts for our Tundra. I do have some one off AC knobs I had made from the billet company that did all my billet on my Magnum. But they just seem to busy to make anything for the Tundra, plus they said the interest is just not that great from the Tundra forums as they tried. This latest journey started to just get a billet radiator piece to replace the foam in front of the radiator. But I had a vision of wanting more.
And now that a couple of members between the forums have stepped forward and had that radiator piece made, we are well on our way! Thanks to a those 2 members for sure for stepping up to bring the radiator piece alive! I have been after that for well over a year!
And thanks to gameover169 aka John! He made it over to Billet & Acrylic Fantasies in Vero Beach, Fl and they took many measurements, etc for billet parts for our Tundra. Thanks again to you bro for driving that distance to meet up with Tom!
Now I know we have some difference between the trim levels, so for those of you that find something else, and have that particular trim level, we will need to get someone over to the shop. Now we just patiently wait to see what they can come up with.
Some of the things we are looking at for billet are:
-Radiator foam replacement piece(my original reason for contacting them)
-Gas shock covers for the hood supports
-Cap for the fuse block cover
-Door sill protectors(nice to have as I have a set from another billet company)
-Caps for all the fluid reservoirs under the hood
-Replacement mounts for all the factory switches to the left/right of steering wheel
-Possibly the plastic engine cover(John left his for him to play around with)
And whatever else we can think of along the way I am sure. Marky_Mark 08-01-2011, 09:27 AM First up is the billet strut covers for the engine bay. They will look like the below.

He chose three lucky people (myself being one of them), made billet Oil, Power Steering, and washer fluid cap covers and sent them to us for free, and asked us to provide feedback. Which we (or at least I) did.
Then the guy disappeared and we never heard from him again. :wtf:
I got my Throttle Body cover here:
PPD billet Tundra, Sequoia billet aftermarket parts to fit your Toyota. (http://www.ppdbillet.com/products.html)
Not sure if they are still making them, though.

^^That is cool stuff brother! BT or Billet Technology(Dan & Heidi) is alive and kicking..I tried to get them to come back on the forums, but people just balked at their prices and they never sold anything when they first became vendors.
They did all the billet on my Magnum, and also did the "one off" AC knobs for my Tundra along w/ the door sills. They make top notch stuff too! Marky_Mark 08-06-2011, 12:06 PM My billet hood strut covers are on the way to myself and John the member whom they used as the test fitment truck. Also he has started on the caps, but will take a couple of weeks as he is slammed with other projects. TRD-X 08-07-2011, 11:44 AM Let me know how you like the stuff Mark and also if they are going to make the dash trim bezels. :tu: randomwalk101 08-08-2011, 12:44 PM I think MarkyMark needs to buy his own CNC machine and starts making his own stuffs LOL.. Marky_Mark 08-08-2011, 04:16 PM ^^HAHA! Man I would never sleep..I would make everything in my house billet!
Got the strut covers today and they are top notch! Just need my truck to put them on! LOL Should have truck back in my possession tomorrow late. Marky_Mark 08-16-2011, 09:09 AM Fuse box plate done. Caps should be finished today. Tom says the pic does not do it justice as that is the sky in the reflection. This is not some cheap billet, but top quality. He makes billet for many places, etc to include billet and acrylic trophies for shows. I wanted him to make a complete cover, but maybe less than (5) of you guys would put out the $$ for what that would cost. So I told him not to worry.
He listed it eBay already, as forums never turn out to be the promise that one would think. LOL But this will sell well on them late nights surfing ebay when you just have to buy something for your ride!! :D Remember you get what you pay for, and solid billet is not cheap to begin with.

LOL
Below is the knobs I had made about a year ago from another billet place.
http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m109/lowriderman3/BilletKnobs-1.jpg Marky_Mark 08-20-2011, 07:10 AM ^^Those are covers, but one will never know. For a solid billet knob, you will pay dearly! Marky_Mark 08-21-2011, 08:49 PM Engine caps installed. Engine a weee bit dirty. I did not get a chance to get the radiator cap on as it started raining today. And I do not have a washer overflow tank, so that one will not be used.
High quality stuff!!

http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m109/lowriderman3/Engine/BilletFuseBoxCover.jpg KyleBechtold 08-28-2011, 02:11 PM how much were the ac knobs? I used to frequent avic411 and had a guy making knobs for h.us with cheap plastic knobs that chipped and would also dip anodize them in black or a couple other colors.. Marky_Mark 08-28-2011, 05:01 PM ^^This company has not made any yet, so I am not sure of the cost. The ones I have did not cost me anything as they were from a vendor from my last car forums. Marky_Mark 08-31-2011, 06:40 PM Okay he got the climate control piece today I sent him..He can make the knobs!! But do notice the knob closest to the steering wheel is angled so it will set a weee bit off like mine does in the above pic earlier in the post. But it cannot be seen from outside the vehicle. Not sure why Toyota made this like this. But really not a bothersome thing to me.
He will be making the whole front of the climate panel in billet too along with the switch covers. I know some have different switches instead of blanks. He as an idea for that and I will post the results when he does his first mockup.
Knob set will be around $75 as they are rather large and (4) of them as you know. Marky_Mark 09-01-2011, 06:39 PM Climate control knobs complete!
http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m109/lowriderman3/Other%20Interior/BilletKnobs.jpg randomwalk101 09-03-2011, 05:19 AM Nice work.
There is no mark on them to tell you where the setting is? Stock mark lights up which is nice feature too...that is too gone here? Marky_Mark 09-03-2011, 05:36 AM ^^Hold that thought..There is supposed to be something there as I discussed that with him. Will post a follow-up. cpearson817 09-03-2011, 06:14 AM ^^Hold that thought..There is supposed to be something there as I discussed that with him. Will post a follow-up.
Any chance for this stuff on 1gen tundras? Marky_Mark 09-03-2011, 06:20 AM Any chance for this stuff on 1gen tundras?
Not sure if the controls are the same..But he would need 1gen donor truck to check. cpearson817 09-03-2011, 06:30 AM Not sure if the controls are the same..But he would need 1gen donor truck to check.

Tom is his name and he is a super guy to work with! Marky_Mark 09-03-2011, 03:23 PM Nice work.

FYI..There will be a small round hole for the light to appear through at night on the climate control knobs. Marky_Mark 09-05-2011, 07:05 AM ^^Bump^^ for interest. ThirdHorseman 09-05-2011, 10:29 AM The second gen knobs are a world apart from the first!!! Really nice design and craftsmanship. $75 is cheap as dirt for the set, folks should jump on these.
Forums are great, it's just that with trucks, you have a variety of drivers. Some folks are heavy misdeed, others just want some accessories within a budget, and some are here to fix or just learn more about their vehicle. With enthusiast cars, selling is much easier. On the Vette forums, people are paying $600 -$1,200 to have each door panel covered in stitched leather! Can't imagine Porsche and super car forums, yow.
Good luck getting these sold, though I don't imagine you'll need it. Really nice pieces! Marky_Mark 09-05-2011, 03:35 PM ^^Yes you are right on with the 'vette panels! And hopefully these guys will jump on this as everyone is always wanting something new. randomwalk101 09-07-2011, 06:51 AM The second gen knobs are a world apart from the first!!! Yes I understand. But if you think about it, most truck drivers ain't exactly millionaire...most are blue colar workers or even manual labor coolies living pay check to pay check...needing the truck for work. That's exactly what I said. :) That a truck forum is much more diverse since for many, these trucks are tools, at least part time. But that for other types of vehicles, forums can indeed be used to market specialty mod items very successfully. Marky_Mark 09-10-2011, 06:01 AM ^^Bump^^ for interest. Full climate control panel with optional switch(es) cut out depending on your config. This coupled with the billet knobs will rock! Not yet installed on my truck as it is gettin' some TLC. :D But I had a spare climate panel, so I took a pic with it sitting on there. Will get a pic this weekend with it coupled with the billet knobs. Get ya some!

I need this piece in billet too so that the climate control piece will flow mucho better.
Shoot me a PM if you have one. It will be returned to you when he is done with it. jbtoy 11-10-2011, 04:37 PM Not sure if the controls are the same..But he would need 1gen donor truck to check.
Doing some engine detailing right now and curious if any 1G owners stepped up for the engine side of things. I get most of this stuff may be a little pricey, but, for the
detail guys, can be fun. If no one has jumped in, I am looking for some unique pcs for a 1G. Should I be the donor needed? Quality looks great. Marky_Mark 11-10-2011, 05:30 PM ^^Ya man you would be perfect. Just shoot Tom an email with what you want and can send him for mockup. I have the AC piece, but need to send him my surround from my radio unit to match that up. I just have a couple of shows coming up before I can have it taken apart. jbtoy 11-28-2011, 04:13 PM Not stepping on the thread, but, for the First Gen guys that may be interested in some engine pcs for dress up, I did send some
mock up pcs to Tom to see what we can do. I will start another thread when we have them done
and you can check them out. I plan to add the 'TRD" logo on a couple of pcs to see how it comes out. Marky_Mark 11-28-2011, 04:33 PM ^^Great to hear brother! And you can keep any billet for the 1st GEN in this thread if you would like..And you can start your own thread with your individual pieces. Up to you. :D jag1046 01-18-2012, 10:54 AM Hey Mark,
Just bought a 2012 Tundra and would love to have a set of Knobs...
Any chance...
Thanks
John Marky_Mark 01-18-2012, 02:54 PM ^^Email dude and ask him. He should be down for making them if everything is the same as the '08 etc. |
