Anyone strip the paint off their Taco's fender or front bumper. Ive got an 09 white Taco and I want to go black on my fender flares and front bumper but not sure of the best way to do it. Any ideas?

What is the purpose of the mod? Why not get a standard model to begin with?

Don't try stripping the paint off. The parts are actually different between the black and the painted fender flares. You'll never strip the paint and end up with it looking good. What you'll need to do if you want that look is to either find someone to trade with (who has the standard and wants painted), or paint them the color your prefer.

@lelandstanford: That is far from the smartest suggestion I've ever heard. VERY far. Like the OP, I have one with painted fender flares but prefer black (not enough to do something about it though). Simple reason was that I wanted some of the other things that came with the SR5 option package (sliding rear window, cruise control, variable wipers, etc.) Forgoing the SR5 for the purpose of changing the color of the fender flares would have been giving up a LOT more than the fender flares are worth.

I kinda cant afford to trade my truck in (2009) for one that has black flares and black front bumper cover. I'm thinking it may be cheaper just to swap them out or get them painted/stripped.:beatsme:

Thanks for the advice. I think I may just buy another bumper cover. Whats under the paint on the flares? I thought they were black?
