: Issue with taking wheel weights off

I get my wheels rotated and balanced about every 6,000 miles. I go to Discount Tire Co. where I purchased my tires so this service is provided free for the life of the tire which is great.

However, each time I go in for the balance the tech takes off the old weights but leaves the adhesive on the wheel. So now there multiple strips of adhesive that not only look horrible (I'm really the only one that can notice them when I clean my wheels and I'm picky about them) but they also are limiting the space for the new weights when the techs go to balance.

Is there anything that I can use to get this off without damaging the coat on the wheel? They are the Enkei deep six which I believe have a coating on them. Thanks for the suggestions!

Try some GooGone.

Next time tell them to leave the weights on and verify the balance. Most of the time you can feel if the tire is out, if you can't feel a vibration, they are fine.

Yea I've always wanted to say something, but at first figured new weights = accurate balance. Seems to make sense for them to check with the old ones on first. When I went to wash my wheels this evening, I always wash the backsides as well since they are easy to get to and makes all the difference in the finished product, and happened to notice my mitt getting caught on multiple spots. When I took a closer look, I noticed that all 4 wheels were covered in adhesive.

I'll try the goo gone this weekend when I can pull all the wheels off and have full access.
