: Question 2005 Sequoia and iPhone scrucker 12-08-2011, 03:41 AM I am looking for a way to be able to use my iPhone with my stock JBL 6 disc changer in a 2005 Limited. It does not have a satellite radio of rear entertainment. I have searched other postings but they all seem to be pretty dated. If anyone has a suggestion, I would love to hear it. I am definitely interested in having something that will allow my steering wheel and radio controls actually control the iPhone. Thanks in advance. czechm8 12-08-2011, 05:44 AM What you are looking for does not exist. There is no way to control an iphone using the stock JBL 6 disc head unit.
You can output the audio from the iphone, and connect it to the CD changer port, but that's about it. scrucker 12-08-2011, 06:42 AM If what I mentioned is not possible, does anyone have any suggestions for the best way to just be able to play music from my iPhone throu the factory radio. Any suggeestions are greatly appreciated. czechm8 12-08-2011, 07:31 AM You'll need a couple of things.
1) you need this:
TOY03-AUX2 (http://www.pie.net/index.php?page=shop.product_details&product_id=728&flypage=flypage.tpl&pop=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=40)
to connect to the CD changer port on the back of the 6 disc unit. It gives you a right and left RCA audio input that allows you to connect any device that has low-level RCA outputs.
2) You will need a cable like this
iPod, iPad and iPhone Docking Connector Cable to Dual Stereo Audio Cable (http://www.ramelectronics.net/ipod-mp3/ipod-cables/ipod-extreme-series/i-extreme-ipod-docking-to-stereo-rca-cable/prodIFEPDRCA.html)
to connect to the dock port of your iphone and the other end to the RCA unputs of number 1 above.
I know that apple changed the pin assignments of the dock connectors a couple years ago, which changed the power connections. Because of this, the newer iphones and itouchs will not charge with the older cables. If you cannot find a dock-to-RCA cable that will charge the newer iphones..........Scosche makes an adapter that will charge your newer iphone as well. It's called the PassPORT. http://www.amazon.com/Scosche-passPORT-Charging-Adapter-iPhone/dp/B001HN6CVA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1323358150&sr=8-1 flyfish-mt 12-08-2011, 08:56 AM I have a cassette tape adapter that goes into the cassette player and has a long wire coming out of it that plugs into my iPhone's headphone jack. Cost all of $5.00 and works great! czechm8 12-08-2011, 09:18 AM There are tons of adapters that use the headphone jack for output. If you care about music quality at all, you will want to use the low-level output from the dock connector instead of the amplified output from the headphone jack. sseaman 12-08-2011, 07:09 PM I have used the Grom unit with ipods, ipads, and iphones 3g and 4 with success, easy install as well
Toyota / Scion / Lexus GROM USB/iPod car interface adapter (http://www.gromaudio.com/store/usb_adapters/toyota_lexus_scion_usb_ipod_adapter_direct_digital _interface.html) czechm8 12-09-2011, 07:46 AM That's actually not a bad option, especially if you have the OEM NAV unit.
Never knew that existed!

I just picked up a used older version of this off ebay for $30. Easy install and works well. you control the iphone/ipod via the cd track controls on the head unit... My version doesn't have any track information show up on the screen, but you can look at the phone. I haven't actually tried the steering wheel controls (I still haven't gotten used to using them....), but can't see why they won't work.

I have a dedicated Nano mounted next to the radio with velcro so it is easy to see the songs. My wife uses the same device in her Lexus with her Iphone 4 without issue. scrucker 12-22-2011, 09:19 AM Thanks for all the input. Does the Grom unit work if my radio does not have an AUX button? I went by a radio shop the other day, and they said there was no way to do it, if the radio unit does not have an AUX button? chunkinator 12-26-2011, 10:07 PM It uses the CD setting on your stereo. when your iphone is not plugged in, it will play cds. If your iphone is plugged in, it plays your iphone on the CD setting lauido92 03-01-2012, 07:11 PM I went with the USA SPEC PA15-TOY iPod/ Aux interface and I'm very happy with it.
