I normally don't write product reviews but I was thoroughly impressed with this one so I felt the need to share it with everyone. My headlights had a decent layer of yellow haze which really didn't effect the output of the headlights but I personally hated the look of it, I have a need to keep my car looking in somewhat of a good condition. I looked into some headlight restoration services, most of them charged nearly $100 or more so that was out of the question. Next search was for DIY kits and majority of the better kits included some type of buffing pad that attached to a drill. Unfortunately I have a brushguard in the front and getting the pad to the headlight would be impossible. My only option left were the kits that included sand paper and other conditioning products. After doing a little research, I stumbled upon the Sylvania Headlight Restoration Kit (http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProducts/AutomotiveLighting/HeadlightrestorationKit/). I was skeptical at first but after watching their how-to video - YouTube (http://youtu.be/KWjSd__zidE) and reading some of the reviews on Amazon.com: Sylvania Headlight Restoration Kit (http://www.amazon.com/Sylvania-38771-Headlight-Restoration-Kit/dp/B00429NKWK), I felt pretty confident that this kit would be able to remove that disgusting haze and restore the original look of the headlights. If it wasn't for the brushguard which was in the way of reaching the headlights, the overall process would have been fairly simple. But honestly it's as easy as they say it is in the video. I highly recommend watching the video to learn how the product works but like they said, you really don't notice the difference until the very last stage when you're applying the UV coating that reveals the clarity of the headlight.

Here's what's included:

1 oz. of surface activator
½ oz. of clarifying compound
1 oz. of UV blocking Clear Coat
3 grades of waterproof premium sandpaper (400, 1000 and 2000 grit)
2 white applicator cloths
1 blue lint-free UV Clear Coat applicator cloth
1 roll of protective tape
1 vinyl glove

I WISH I had taken pictures during the process or even a before/after comparison but it didn't occur to me at the time that I would be writing a review nor did I even imagine how impressed I would have been by this product. It took me roughly 45 mins to complete both headlights, but like I said, it was a little difficult getting to the headlight for me but for any other car it shouldn't take no longer than 30 mins. ELBOW GREASE is KEY...LOTS OF IT!! After completing the process, my headlights looked as if I had bought a new set of factory headlights. Just simply amazed how good they look and not having that disgusting haze look. I applied this 3 days ago, Sylvania says their kit should protect the headlights from future deterioration, but I don't mind using this product again in another year or so to retrieve the original clarity. It only cost me $21 & change from Pepboys.

So if you're in the market for restoring your headlights, I highly recommend giving this product a try, you will not be disappointed.

I'll use this on my gf's car since they need a cleaning too, I'll try to take some pics then but her's weren't as bad as mine.

Thanks for the write up! Still happy with the results some 5 months later? I'm the second owner of a 2007 Tundra which I believe was left outside for it's entire life before I bought it (now garaged) and I'm starting to see some haze on the headlights.

Absolutely! My headlights are clear as new and not a single sign of any haze after 5 months. I HIGHLY recommend this product from Sylvania, very inexpensive compared to the cost of a professional and trust me, when you're done, it'll look as if you paid a premium price for the clarity of your headlights. Don't wait for a thick layer of yellow haze to form on your headlights, I HATED that look on my car. Take care of it now while its minimal. I love the fact that it comes with a UV coating that protects the headlight from deterioration. I had my headlights "restored" from one of the local car washes here about a year ago, and just after a few months the haze started to form again. All they used was some type of liquid and sandpaper. Nothing for coating or future protection. I was pretty disappointed because I thought I would have atleast a year without worrying about the headlights and so thats when I researched into restoring them myself back in December. Worth every penny.

Cool! Perhaps I'll pick some up this weekend and give it a whirl. Looks like I should be able to get it at a local auto parts store.

This product works! Now my headlights were in the early stages of getting the "haze" and not completely "gone" like we've all seen in commercials so I was probably an optimal candidate. I wasn't sure my camera would even capture the haze so I didn't try. My bad, probably should have tried at least. Anyway, I reviewed the video first, and read the instructions several times. I was very thorough with all the steps and it took me probably 45 minutes total. The headlights were very rough after 5 years of life on the road. They are now baby butt smooth and the lens's are perfectly clear! :tu: This a perfect example of you get out what you put into it. Don't short-cut any of the steps. Perhaps I'll try to get a finished pic.

Thanks for the recommendation!
