Towing a travel trailer with the tacoma, I found only one problem and that was the towing mirror options.
The 98-2001 dodge or 98-2000 chevy mirror have mounting bases smaller than the tacoma and by using a semi-truck mud flap you can make the filler trim piece. The dodge flip-up towing mirror looks odd to me and I wanted a different look.
I installed Powervision Mirrors.com from a 98 chevy. These mirrors are pricy but worth the money(I was able to trade some work for a set)
I completed it in a weekend and have a great set-up for towing.
I posted what I did with pictures including wiring diagrams and thought I'd post a link here.
