I am thinking that I will get some 5100's and put them on middle height for a little leveling effect. I also am thinking about getting some air bags for the rear. Would it be recommended to get 5100's for the rear or would the addition of air bags change that recommendation? I know a lot of folks only do 5100's on front anyway....

Hey chickenpro --
I have a '10 CM 4x4 that I just installed with air bags. I'm sitting on a full set of 5100's (front and rear) that I'll install this week. I don't know if the rear shocks are necessary but I bought them anyway. Even though most people say that at 5lbs (minimum pressure) the air bags are unnoticeable, with an empty bed you do feel a little stiffness with stock shocks. I think I gained a little lift as well but I failed to take any "before" measurements. With the air bags, I'm going to set my front Bilsteins to the upper setting in order to level my truck with the air bags. Make sure you order a diff drop if you use the middle or upper setting. I posted a short write-up of my Air Lift air bag and on-board compressor installation here (http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forums/tundra/222576-air-lift-air-bag-compressor-install/).

If you're only going 5100's for the added height, rears won't be needed, unless your factory stuff is getting worn. That said, replacing all (4) is cheap insurance.
As to diff drops....BS, snake oil. Find one of the "better" manufactures or dealers that sells and recommends them. Total Chaos, Camburg, SAW, Icon, Wheelers, etc,.....

I stand corrected in that someone makes one. That said they make them for earlier Taco's and the consensus is they are worthless there as well. I'd give them a call and chat about them before spending the money. I did with Wheelers, an outfit I trust, and they won't even stock them.
Interesting, I went with wheelers for my 5100's for my 2011 tundra and when I was there they actully suggested I get a diff drop kit. Maby they changed there outlook on the diff drop kits recently but I was told face to face and went ahead with it because after all it took 5 min to install and was less than $30.

That link is for the 1st Gen Tundras, I still don't see them listed on 2nd Gens. BTW, While not in person, I did speak with them over the phone regarding my '07.
I still stand by the concept they aren't needed at standard 2.5-3" lifts. But it's your trucks, so if they make you feel happy, by all means, install them.
