: aftermarket trans cooler slomoe 01-23-2012, 07:02 AM When installing an aftermarket trans cooler, is everyone leaving the existing oe transcooler and installing a second in line or replacing the old one with the larger cooler? May be a foolish question, but thought I'd ask. I was thinking of putting to aftermarket one in place of the old oe setup. 2003bajatundra4x4ac 01-23-2012, 08:26 AM read thru the following. i left the oe in place.

Remmy700P 01-23-2012, 11:01 AM The Torque Pro Android app reads the ATF temps fine. vnlocs 01-23-2012, 11:07 AM Thanks im going to my local autozone, they have one in stock. its been quite some time but its great more surface area for cooling neumannbruce 01-23-2012, 09:28 PM Did anyone bypass the radiator to avoid the strawberry milkshake? If so, did you use a good synthetic? slomoe 01-25-2012, 06:13 PM Well did the install yesterday, and it turned out just fine. Once I figured out how I wanted to mount it, I made my own brackets out of 1/8'' x1 alum stock and used all stainless nutz and boltz. After getting the cooler in, I hooked up the lines and with no leaks done. 2003bajatundra4x4ac 01-25-2012, 06:56 PM good clean install. nicely done! slomoe 01-25-2012, 07:27 PM good clean install. nicely done!
Thanks. Remmy700P 01-26-2012, 08:46 AM Looks good, but I'd watch my coolant temps for a while to make sure the radiator is getting enough airflow.
Were you having ATF temp problems? slomoe 01-26-2012, 07:21 PM No, but the number one killer of auto transmissions is heat and the first gen's have had there issues. The coolant temps have been good, but will keep an eye on it for sure. I live in Florida and actually got sunburned today working on a sleep platform for the bed. That really sucks for the latter part of January, I need some cooler temps. deviltundra 04-11-2012, 06:45 AM dipstick?, thats when hot right? |
