Yeah man, that was me. You are surely welcome. I love it when stuff really does work.

I can't believe it took me so long to think about doing it. I think most us, me included, think glass cleaner is as good as it gets but it is probably is the weakest stuff around, watered down and such. It was because I had some clearcoat overspray from having my fenders repainted and afterwards, it was like a revelation, I can now see into the future.

There has to be buildup from tree saps and all the shyt that gets tossed up in the rain from stuff that leaks out of cars/trucks, garbage trucks/sewage trucks, you name it. Glass cleaner can only do so much but the Goof Off takes it all off and makes it VIRGIN again.

tried mine yesterday. didn't notice a difference but it isn't raining either, it's 80 on the beach in sunny SoCal and i'm going surfing in baja fri-tues..... i actually have a new-to-me dirt road that disappeared from the AAA club maps in 1990 but it's on goolge earth. it's a 20 mile as the crow flies trail that should cut about 50 miles off the normal route, if it actually is make-able. it's probably slower to go this way but i got time.

woo-HOO!

I just picked up the 22oz spray bottle of the Goof Off from Home Depot when I was on a sprinkler run. Gonna give it a try.

Looked all over for it. They don't stock it with the rest of their cleaning agents. It was in the paint aisle. This type of thinking is just beyond me...

I just learned that you don't use paper towels with this stuff...

What do you suggest?

a rag.

I realize this, but what kind of rag?

Cotton, Microfiber?

i used a cotton rag.

I used old cotton shirts that I cut up into rags.

I really think that paint thinner would work to. It is just the chemicals taking off that invisible layer of other chemicals that are on the glass, nothing special. I just happened to need the Goof Off to take off the overspray.

It is when you need to use the windshield wipers that you might find that they work better because the glass has no residue of any kind on it. It is what I have found on all 3 of our vehicles.

Scratches and pits, the Goof Off won't do a thing for.

I laugh as I bet the paper towel disintegrated in your hands/right before your very eyes.

I use it with nitrile gloves as the stuff is strong.

It wasn't that it did anything to the paper fibers, it's just that it left it all streaky and smeared. I switched to a microfiber polishing cloth and that polished it out.

Anyone know what this stuff will do to vehicle paint?

Every once in a while, I use some Meguiar's Cleaner Wax on the windshield. Does a great job.

I have some that i am going to use to take some tape residue off that was left behind when I Plastidipped my badges. So I believe it is safe for paint.... not that i would go crazy with it, but I presume after you put it on paint would be good to wash with soap and get some wax back on it.

I believe it is very bad for paint. Does it even clear up the area that the ww doesn't "polish"?

For windows use "Nothin's Better"

$10.00 and will last a long time.

It is the first product I've found that actually removes all the spots and has a protective coating (like rain-x) Plus, it will make chrome shine like new.

I first used Goof Off when I worked for a painter and it is what we used when we would spill paint or drop/drip some oil based paint on something and we "goofed up". It would take the paint off pretty easily.

I've used Goof Off lots of times to take the decal residue off from cars/trucks and it gets it off but doesn't take the paint off the vehicle. It doesn't do much to the clearcoat and I just wax/seal over what I might have wiped anytime I use the stuff on the vehicle paint.

The Goof Off definitely steaks like crazy. It is the stuff that is actually in the liquid AND the stuff that was on the glass/surface. I use whatever glass cleaner I have to finish the job as the Goof Off is just to cut through all the stuff that regular glass cleaner won't do anything for.

I don't like anything on my windshield/any sort of "treatment" or wax/RejeX/RainX. I just want plain glass and nothing but glass. I find that my windshield wipers work best with nothing.

Will this take water spots off mirrors and windows? I just bought a 2006 and there are water spots that I can't take off with regular glass cleaner.

Remmy got excited. I've been wondering what to use on the inside of my windows. The inside always seems to have a fog or layer of who knows what. I wonder if I can get away with going light on goof off, I have a bottle somewhere.

Goof Off is safe for cured paint. I use it all the time to dissolve rubber and grease streaks from my race car. It does dissolve the wax, too, so rewax afterward.

However, I wouldn't use it on the inside of windshields. A good window cleaner should be sufficient (I use Invisible Glass w/ a microfiber towel). Goof Off is an organic solvent, so unless you're getting an organic material like grease, oil, or tar on the inside of your windows, it won't do much more than a good cleaner will. Also, you don't want to risk getting the stuff on interior materials which it may discolor. Just my $0.02.

I use windex with the as-seen-on-tv inside windshield cleaner tool. I think it was $10, and uses a bright green micro-fiber sock (came w/ 2) to go over the rectangular head, and it has a black handle / arm. Makes getting to the tight corners very easy. I will try invisible glass next time.

I've noticed this layer on the inside of my windows too...its even worse on my Jeep. I don't smoke or anything so I'm not sure where it comes from.

Wes, I notice mine tends to build up more rapidly when not using the AC. So my theory is its from using outside air and/or the heater.

I guess it is not from me not having a cabin filter, because I believe you do have one. Is yours clean?
