My mechanic replaced rear wheel bearings a couple of years ago and I noticed that my ebrake goes all the way to the floor without doing crap. Anyone ver has this problem?

Thanks - Sid

I have the same issue. When I had my alignment done, the shop said I need new brake pads/rotors in the back. Not sure if that is the same issue as yours.

I've had various issues with my 01 Sequoia parking brakes. They do require periodic adjustment, they're not self adjusting.

Best thing to do is inspect, repair as required, adjust. It may just need the "simple" adjustment procedure but you can't tell until you pull the rear wheels and check.

I hate the Sequoia parking brakes.

Sorry I am new to the sequoia brakes. Can you tell us what kind of "adjustment" needs to be done to the rear brakes?

Many threads on this in the forum and I'm sure I posted this before but I'll attach a procedure I use to this thread too. I downloaded it from TS a while ago.

CAUTION: Make sure you secure the vehicle well in a place where it will not roll. The procedure requires the truck to be in neutral with the rear wheel off. I put the transfer case on my 4 wheel drive in neutral.

I don't peform the settle the pads portion of the procedure unless I install new parking brake shoes.

Adjust the parking brake at the rear wheels, then adjust the pedal travel if needed. As I recall, I don't need to remove all the plastic to get to the pedal travel adjustment.

Good luck.

In addition to proper adjustment there is a mfr defect with the e-brake cable holder along the drivers side frame rail. The cable on my '01 won't stay in the cable holder causing enough play in the cable that the ebrake fades substantially when the cable falls out. Several years ago I had the brakes serviced at a Toyota dealer and they adjusted the e-brake with the cable out of the cable holder. The tech was unaware of the issue. When I tried to put the cable back into the holder the e-brake locked up the wheels... no pedal, just putting the cable back where it belongs. The fix is to put a couple zip ties around the cable and holder bracket to keep the cable in the holder.
