Hey all. Long time lurker here.

I have a 2004 Tundra Double Cab that just recently started having a problem.

I have a loud clicking noise under the dashboard, somewhere behind the tachometer. It sounds like a turn signal, but faster and a little louder. The horn pulses very softly and the dash lights dim at the same time, only when the headlights are OFF. It ranges from a few clicks, to clicking for 5+ seconds.

It is totally intermittent. Does it at speed and sometimes when idling. Does it more over bumps and when weight is shifted through braking and throttle, but not always. Seems to do it more when it is 60+ degrees outside.

It's driving me absolutely nuts!!!!

I suspect it's a relay or possibly a servo, but not positive. It's definitely electrical.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!

Did you ever figure out what the problem was here... ??? i am having a similar problem on my 2005 DC Limited... only 38K miles. My battery kept draining till i pulled the dome fuse from under the hood. i traced it to the gauge cluster in my testing/tracing. when i disconnected the gauge cluster the battery draw stopped, but clicking was heard from under the dash and behind the fuse box.

any comments and/or thoughts would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

I have this same clicking noise in the wife's 2003 4Runner V6. It started in the dash behind the gauge cluster, but now I'm also hearing it behind the radio and AC controls. Can't figure what in hell it is. It almost sounds like the expansion/contraction noises that ACs make, but it also has a definite electrical "solenoid-like" sound to it as well. How my wife drives with it everyday is beyond me.

Yeah, I still have not found what it is. It's a mystery. I'm just turning up the stereo until I can find a solution :(

I would grab a copy of the appropriate wiring manual if possible, (they have diagrams that show where all the ground points are), and start checking grounds and ground wires.
You may even be able to narrow down what circuit/system is doing it, with the manual. If you can narrow down the circuit, it would make checking things MUCH faster and quicker.

My 08 Tundra is making a similar noise. It almost sounds like an exhaust leak. It's prevalent when its cooler and kind of goes away when its
80+ degrees outside. I took my truck to the dealer and he said run it until it breaks. Not a good option...

I love when the dealer cant find the problem or is not willing to. I have changed Toyota dealers after I had a run in with Cobb County Toyota where I have purchased 3 vehicles. They suck and I now use Team Toyota in Lithia Springs, GA.
I called the GM at Cobb County Toyota and told him I will never buy another car or part from your dealership again. His response "We cant please everyone". My response "Well you should try at the prices you are charging for vehicles, parts and labor and then I told him FU"
