This weekend the latch on my center console either broke or came loose and is now floating inside the console lid. I took out all of the screws around the edging on the console lid but this did not release bottom portion of lid from top portion. How can I get into bottom portion to either replace or repair the latch on the console lid?

Same issue with me. Looked all over for a way to access the broken latch. Took it to the dealer and, boy, are they proud of that part. No way to replace the broken part, have to replace the entire lid. Quoted nearly $1000! I went with a coup,e of pieces of Velcro.

Mine did the same.

Here is what I did.

Slide the console forward toward the dash. Once done, raise the lid up and you should be able to get the "floating" latch piece out. You can put it back into position with a little trying.

The bad news is that I cannot find the spring or whatever keeps it latched so I'm still trying to figure that part out.

I have this same problem. My center console latch is just plain broken... I have been trying to find the parts online to just buy the actual latch assembly... I figure it must be possible to take apart the center console and replace the latch...
However, all i can find is the entire lid for about $360....

Anyone find a place to buy the latch?
