Hi am looking at buying a 94 Toyota 4x4 with the V6 the truck has 65k original miles the truck is immaculate, but I have been looking around here and seeing that these have been having the head gasket problems, the guy selling said that it has had the recall done, now I am wondering if I can expect more problems or was this problem fixed with the recall being done. I have a friend who is a mechanic who said he would not even touch the V6 even with the recall done and I talked to a guy who is a service guy at a Toyota dealership with 20yrs at the dealership who said that it shouldn't be a problem and that the truck should be a good purchase. What are some of your guys thoughts/suggestions? Thanks

I have a 4x4 with 130k on it and haven't had ANY issues with it. The recall has been done and the maintenance was done at the proper intervals. I purchased it from my Brother in law so I know the history. It's just like anything you don't know the history to is a shot in the dark. If the price was right I would buy it.

I had an 89 V6, never had the gaskets replaced, put 165K until traded, the replacement gaskets were better than what they came with, so if job was done good you shouldn't have any issues with gaskets,

buy it. dont expect much power wise though. the 3.0 has 4cyl power and 8cyl fuel economy

I didnt have any issues until around 233k miles when i was towing a trailer on the highway with the throttle hammered. Theyre gutless and drink too much gas, but reliable as a rock. The 3.0 is a noisey motor too. If it ever does go out on you, you can always swap a 3.4 into it fairly easily.
