What would you do to do daily maintenance and diagnosis...using a scanner or else?

To get a scanner seems not bad and convinent, so I googled Toyota code scan tools.

I found a Maxiscan JP701 and a MVCI (http://www.chinasinoy.com/wholesale/mvci-toyota-tis-honda-hds-volvo-dice.html)for Toyota Honda, both look ok. Now I'm wondering if anyone can give me an advice that which one is better?

Any good ODB II scanner should work to trouble shoot problems. I use an Actron brand ODB II unit.

I also use the Actron (model CP9125) I bought from AutoZone for $60 or so. The user manual lists a decode for the codes also.
