I am considering an 01 limited with a sunroof, leather, 2 wheel drive no records one owner. No accident or paintwork that i can tell, runs and drives fine, normal wear and tear, non rust-belt truck. AZ and TX truck. clean car-fax

Any opinions about said purchase, it is from a dealer, at first he was asking $7995 now he is asking $6995 my offer to him will be $6000.

Thanks for the input

If you take care of your Toyota, they will last forever. My '98 4Runner has over 327k miles on it and is still running strong as ever. Regular maintenance with high-quality parts has been consistently done forever, though.

In answer to your question, I would say yes, his current asking price is an excellent deal. My wife and I just scored an '02 Sequoia SR5 with 142k on it. Cloth interior, no sunroof, one owner with clean CarFax, brand new tires and in generally excellent condition. We paid $6995 for it. I haven't been able to touch a deal like that in the last six months. I haven't managed to get within $4,000 of it, actually. I say go for it. You won't be disappointed.

If you get it, I would recommend getting a high-quality full synthetic oil and a good oil filter. I've been using Valvoline SynPower and the SuperTech filters from WalMart for the last 150k on my Runner with no issues. They are actually made my Purelator, which is constantly ranked in the top three for filters. We took one of each apart and they were identical inside. WalMart is usually between $5 and $10 less expensive for the oil, in comparison to AutoZone, O'Reilly's, etc.

Replace all of your fluids to start out fresh. Rear diff, tranny, oil, radiator, power steering, brake fluid. A little work and expensive now will save you money later and easily bump you into the 300k+ range.
