I've done a lot of reading on this forum about replacing the front speakers on my Sequoia LTD. I just replaced the JBL Nav HU with a Pioneer AVIC-X930BT. I read that it was best to also replace the factory speakers since they are not the best so i did with a pair of Pioneer TS-A1604C. I'm looking around around for some rear speakers. I bought some Pioneer TS-G1644R but I could almost swear that the factory speakers sounded better so I returned them. I read and was told that the rear don't really matter as long as the front are good. The rears are just fillers. Anyway, I finally got around to replacing the front after buying some MDF and black spray paint i got to it. I've attached some pictures and I think the overall product came out pretty good.

So, let me get this right. You left the factory 2 inch mid-range hooked up and just replaced the other drivers with the new pioneers? If that's they case how did you wire them to the new head unit?
Are there outboard crossovers for those pioneers or simply a cap on the tweeter?

jhonyR- I like them. they sound very good compared to the factory speakers. The highs are crisp, and the lows punch well. I don't have an amp so i'm sure they would sound a lot very better if i had an amp hooked up.
czechm8- The factory mids are not hooked up. i just left them there for now until i create something to cover the hole. These Pioneers do not come with outboard crossovers. They still sound a lot better than the factory speakers.

OKstate,
You can make your own like the original poster, or a company called Scosche makes 7 inch to 6 or 6.5 adapters that will work with the Tundra setup. Sonicelectronix sells them as well as some other companies.

Does it fit the front speaker? I have it all apart, but depending on what side of the speaker you measure the screws are different distances. What size adapter do I get? Thanks for your help!

I bought the 7" to 6.5" adapters and tried to get them to work last night. They do not fit even closely. I haven't gotten the speakers in yet, but the adapters from Scosche are not recommended. They are gigantic

Scosche SAC656 are what I used. Bolted the speaker to the adapter and then attached it to the original mount. A couple of the screws went in to the plastic and not the original holes but it's tight, I haven't had any problems. Sorry I didn't see the post earlier, I'm not on this forum much.
