EDIT: I ended up taking my truck to Toyota of Winter Haven, which turned out to be a good experience...
The code that came back said that the Yaw Sensor was to blame. They wanted $650 to replace it. Since I know where it is (very easy to replace) and I could buy the part new online for $323 I decided to do that one myself -- I apparently will have to go back to the dealer for a $50 calibration of the new sensor.
While there I managed to negotiate the following "deal" on timing belt replacement...
- Timing belt
- Water pump
- Both front camshaft seals
- Crankshaft seal
Got all this done for $723.55 out the door (that includes 1 gallon of antifreeze at the ridiculous cost of $36, shop supplies & tax). Considering I did the same service, minus the crankshaft seal, on my 4.7 4Runner and paid $983 I thought this was a pretty good deal. Had I done this work myself I figured it would have only saved me approx. $420.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The VSC issue regarding 01 & 02 Sequoias has now found me. I submitted a complaint through NHTSA's system and now I need to have the issue inspected by a Toyota dealer.
I have done a Google search and the majority of reviews I found are related to vehicle purchasing and I need service reviews. There are 3 dealers near me and I am hoping to get service department experiences from any of you. I am trying to determine which of these dealerships is most likely to work with me on the repair cost to fix this VSC issue...
The 3 Florida dealerships I am considering taking my Sequoia to are:
Toyota of Winter Haven
Central Florida Toyota
Lakeland Toyota
Please, any experiences you can share with me about their service departments will be much appreciated. Thanks!
