i did my search on here. & could not find my answer. anyway, i just changed my oil a few days ago. the mait. reqd light wont go off. I tried to get the odometer to clear ----- but it wont. I have changed this before and it cleared the mait req light off. i have tried it like 8 times yesterday & today. is there something else wrong with truck? its got 20,000 miles. thanks

It's basically just a dummy trip meter. I hate to ask the question because sometimes people get offended...but you're doing it this way, correct?

1. Make sure total miles driven on the truck is displayed on the odometer first (ensure it isn't one of the two trip meters...and you can switch them without a key in the ignition even).
2. Once it's truly set to the odometer setting, make sure key is in the off position.
3. Hold down trip meter (and don't let up at all...especially if maybe your button is wearing and you have to press it harder), then turn the key to the On position.
4. Once you see all the dashes disappear, wait a half second and then let up on the button (I believe it turns to all zeroes...been awhile since I paid that much attention when I reset it).

Following all those steps just like that?
