I am trying to replace the cable/lock assembly for my lift gate and I cannot get the lock to release. I have removed the cable from the handle and grabbed the end with vice grips and no matter how hard I pull I cannot get the lock to release so I can replace it. All the electric components are still plugged in and I keep hitting the FOB unlock button to make sure it is unlocked before I pull the cable. I can hear and feel something move inside the lock assembly when I press unlock. Any ideas?

Never mind I got it - closed all the doors and then pressed lock and then unlock twice pulled the cable and it opened.
