i made a huge mistake and bought one of those resistor type performance "chips" off ebay. HORRIBLE decision. anyway, it fried my ecu. i found a replacement on ebay. Can i just plug it up like my old one? or is there some kind of reprogramming that needs to be done by the dealership? any help would be greatly appreciated. i have been without my truck for a week now. i need it fixed asap

it does have to be sent to toyota to have your vin and options programed to the ecm, you wanna make sure that the ecu is the same as yours also

In my experience the ECM has to be programmed at the dealership and it has to be a new part. A junk yard ECM probably can not be reprogrammed to another car.
