Should have done this a while ago, when I got my SR5 last year my dealer could not find a 4.6 within 500 miles of Chicago.

Thanks for posting the link. I was wondering what was going on with the 2013's.
Interesting to read the replies to that article on CD's website. Lot of Sequoia haters over there.
As for me, enjoying the Sequoia ; no regrets at all getting it.

I have to agree, loving the Sequoia. We couldn't find another vehicle that matched, style, spaciousness and towing capacity. Maybe a nicer Suburban, but we are not fans of that whoel body style... Armada's are a close 2nd. Everything else was too small or too little power. Expeditions could be thrown in, maybe, not a big fan of the style either.

Hello All,

A new 2012 Platinum 2WD owner, we very much like it having traded up from an Enclave (which was also a good ride, 175K miles).

Question: There have been rumors since 2009 that the Sequoia was going to be retired. The rumors have re-animated now that this 4.6l V-8 elimination has been announced. I have also heard that the Sequoia is not being phased out, but that it will be re-issued as a version based on the Land Cruiser platform rather than the Tundra (and this makes perfect sense to me).

What have the rest of you heard?

Thanks

Aggie

I just received the September issue of Car&Driver which is their new car issue. In addition to dropping the 4.6L engine in 2013, they also mentioned that the Sequoia will have the industry's first factory installed rear entertainment blue-ray DVD player offered as an option. So for sure it won't be discontinued in 2013. My guess is it will get updated with the 2014 model. Personally I don't see Toyota dropping it. Even though they don't sell many, as a recent buyer I know how little dealers will haggle on price on these. They make a lot of $ off the ones they do sell.

Thanks - They also export about 15,000 units a year to the middle east, where they are very popular. Aggie

I, like many others, could not find anything else that could match it. We originally wanted a Tahoe, but my wife could not lift out the third row seats by herself and that was the decision for us. Sounds like GM is going to an independent rear on the next generation so they should have a fold down third row soon for the Escalade, Tahoe, Yukon, etc.
Signs seem to be pointing that Toyota will keep the Sequoia, a big change from last year when many thought they would drop it.

Here is a quote from Automobile:
"The truck-based SUV range will be trimmed with the loss of the FJ Cruiser, thanks to the car’s low demand. Both the Land Cruiser and the 4Runner recently saw updates and will carry on for the time being. The question remains on what Toyota will do with the Sequoia – AN reports an all-new model for 2014, but there is no saying if it will continue on sharing with the Tundra pickup or become a long-wheelbase Land Cruiser. No matter what, the Sequoia will remain as a body-on-frame SUV."
