Double check the orientation of your MAF - is it backwards?

The way the shape is you can't put it on backwards without there being gaps for the air to bypass... Took my truck to Toyota to have them figure out whats wrong with it and the lovely company that sold me the used engine for the engine swap sent me a lexus engine thats not compatible with my tundra :\ don't buy anything from Automotix.com!!!!

Just so I'm clear here... you swapped in the wrong engine?

Yes, after giving that company my vin and them sending me an engine that looks identical to the one i pulled. I didn't think there was going to be an issue. What are you getting at?

Was simply wondering if your post meant that you just found that out now subsequent to the visit to Toyota.

Yea i just found that out after wasting money trying to get the wrong engine to work that they sent me and got sick of messing with it so i took it to Toyota yesterday and they told me it's not even the correct engine today :\ Glad i didn't have to pay someone to do the engine swap cause that would of been a waste.

That sucks. Can you pull it and get it replaced?

That does look identical, I imagine the only differences would be internal.

Have you contacted the place the motor came from? Hopefully they can provide a trade with a correct motor, the time wasted and effort of doing the work can't really be replaced.

Points sent for swapping yourself, that isn't something every guy here would go at.

When i first got the engine from Automotix i was concerned because they say they drain the oil in the engines and the engine oil that was still in it looked like it was never changed and there was oil on some of the spark plugs. They never wrote me back so i was like wow.. bs. Was able to get the truck to run but it sounds like a damn boat unless you slam on the gas to get it to trip it into limp mode and then it will idle fine but only gets %15 throttle. Took it to toyota and they said it's a lexus engine thats why the sensors aren't able to work with the tundra ecu. They said i'd need to re write the computer and interchange the injectors and coil packs to lexus for it to even work.

Automotix still hasn't wrote me or called me back and when i call they point fingers, so i was like.. well **** u then. Called up my bank and they credited back my account after disputing my case against them and they gave my money back and i just ordered another engine from a different company thats coming out of a tundra. Luckily i bought a cherry picker and haven't sold it so i'll be able to tear out this lexus engine.

I hope you get your truck worked out headache free, that's a lot of labor but on the bright side I'm sure you learned a lot of good ways to make the job easier/faster. Get some pics if you can and good luck.

I'll for sure take some pic this time and throw em in here.

And naaa i'm not sending them this engine back sense they want to ignore me and not care that they sent me the wrong engine when there is a year warranty on the engine. I'll probably just end up selling this lexus engine for $800 and keep the new timing belt and tensioner in this one so whoever buys it doesn't have to do a tune up on it for 100k miles. it's a 2002 with 91k miles on it. I'll have to call toyota to get the exact model engine it is from, but i think it's a lexus 470 L. Don't quote me on it but thats what i remember hearing. I was just relieved it was the wrong engine and not another expensive part i needed lol.

Yea i defiantly learned how to throw an engine in fast. lol first attempt at putting the engine back in i had the headers on... HA HA! trying to line up the tranny and get the down pipes seated. Was hell so i ended up taking the headers off and bolted those up after seating the tranny. Kinda curios.. the coil packs that i have from the lexus engine... they 'look' identical to the tundra's. Are they interchangeable or are they different? Cause if they are the same i guess it's a plus i have some spare parts for a rainy day hahah.
