I purchased my tundra DC in PA where I guess they only have rear license plates (aka tags for some of you). I noticed this weekend that there was no mounting setup for the plates in the front. I did notice two dimples in the bumper that I would guess are drill guides for mounting screws. For those of you with front plates, how are they attached? Is there a frame that mounts to the bumper, or do the plates bolt directly on the bumper? I would rather not drill into the bumper of my new $35K truck until I know all the facts.... Continued thanks!

Unfortunately you have found the correct spot. Here in Ca. we have to have our front plates on so they always predrill ours for us (although I never put it on, I'll take the ticket). As far as I know there is no bracket or anything to mount the plate to. Plus sometimes the brackets rub on the front bumper and rub off the paint....now sure which the lesser of the two evils....paint rubbed off, or screws in your front bumper.
Anyway...hope that helps some.
Good Luck!

I know its not a real plate, but my Jolly Rodger is attached with good old 3M double stick tape and it has yet to come off in every manner of weather and washings. Don't see why a metal plate wouldn't stick as well.

Amigo,
Try performanceproducts.com or JC Whitney. I would bet one those mofo's will have what you are looking for. I have seen those dang plate holders somewhere. Just can't remember where.
Good Luck,

I live in MD and purchased my Tundra in DE. Once the tags get to the dealer, they said they would put 2 self-tapping screws into the dimples on the front bumper to hold on the front plate.

Unfortunately, Toyota took the cheap route again. Per Toyota factory instructions (found on this site) the stealerships hold the plate in position and run self-tapping screws directly into the freshly painted bumper. Hey Toyota, what kind of crap is this? It ranks right up there with slapping plastic car front ends where a METAL BUMPER belongs! If they used metal bumpers, then there would be proper license plate mounts like on '00-'02 models.
When I removed the free dealer advertising from the front of my new DC, I was rewarded with two UGLY self-tapping screw holes that were permanently left in the beautiful Bluesteel Metallic paint for me to enjoy. ( I never use front plates either Lex :tu: ) Thanks Toyota. :td: Howza 'bout making amends by hooking me up with the front end components from an '00-'02 Tundra at cost. I know, I know, wishful thinking....... GRRRRRR!
