I have done a search and read some posts on the Child Seat issue and there appear to be others who have had similar issues, but I've not been able to find a helpful solution. For a forward facing child seat, it is almost impossible to buckle the tether to the center anchor (for center mounting the seat). You can latch it into place, but because the buckle on the car seat is now BEHIND the seat, there is no way you could ever release it once it is in place. Has anyone figured out how to fix this? I have heard some people say that they have used the tethers on EITHER SIDE of the center, but this is not supposed to be done (I have had classes on mounting car seats).

So, is there a way to mount these things SAFELY in the center position? On either side you have to have your seat almost to the dash. Can the rear seat be modified to where it can be folded down or easily removed? Are there aftermarket rear seats for the Access Cab that can be folded down (backrest)?

I appreciate any help!!!

I have a forward facing seat in the middle right now. Basically, I adjusted the strap before I hooked it up. It takes a few tries but once you get it adjusted correctly you can hold the base of the seat up at an angle while you hook the strap to the anchor. Then fold the center armrest back up and put the bottom of the seat back down.
As for the lower tethers, I used the two closest to the center. Admittedly they are farther apart than on each side but not that much further. I guess if they put an upper anchor in the middle they were planning on a seat being there. The seat seems very secure.
Funny that as I was typing this the little one woke up from his nap. Gotta go get him.

My 4 year old has now been riding in his center mounted seat for a year and a half. Seat is mounted on top of arm rest. Attached a piece of 2x2 to the bottom of his seat that fits into cupholder. Then ran straps around back of seat through arm rest hole. It is rock solid, he can see everything, his feet now rest on my folded front center seat back(man they grow fast). It is by far his favorite vehicle to ride in. He runs ahead, climbs in drivers door and has his sholder straps buckled before I can turn the key.
Just had to buy an extra seat and it will be there for another year or so.
