either there is not much or maybe your all hiding! boy, I would love to take my tundra through some back country roads, only thing is that I am not sure I can (or my truck is capable). it's stock tundra V8 limited access cab.

another question: because I have had some bad experience with the dealership where I originally purchased my truck, I have been going to other dealership like millenium in LI. they were for sure better, didn't quite fix the problems and I haven't had the time early enough in the morning to give up a couple of hours to get it fixed, so I will get to it soon. besides that is there a good recommendation?

thanks.

Hello
I'm in NYC. You mean the roads around here aren't rough enough for you? Try driving the Cross Bronx Expressway or the FDR Drive and it will be just like offroading. :)

There are really not many opportunities to off road around here. You either have to travel a couple of hours north or west to do that. A lot of people bring their trucks onto the beach to go fishing on the south shore of LI. That makes for a really nice day. Back up to the ocean, pull out your fishing pole and open the cooler. A great day. You might even pick up a couple of Stripers for dinnner. I think you can go out to Montauk and pull your truck on the beach. There is a state park there and you can camp over night. You have to make a reservation for that.

Hi whiteTlimited. Just curious, which dealership did you have service problems with? I am from NYC area too and looking to purchase a DC Tundra soon. Hopefully I won't have to be familiar with the service department, but I just wanted to know.

I've already made the rounds of all the local dealerships a year ago when I was helping my sister shop for a Highlander (she settled for a CRV). In general, I didn't like any one of their sales departments; they all think Toyotas are God's gift. But I guess they are reliable. Was seriously considering a Titan, but after about a year of lurking on Titan forums have convinced me otherwise.

JTs02Tundra: you must be reading my mind. Can't wait to take the truck out and do some fishin'.

I feel the need for muddy trails! there was one night on TV (maybe motor trend) where they had a white tundra access cab rolling in mud, dirt trails etc. they were also saying how capable the truck was... I too would just like to try it. I fish, take a boat out for the day and fish. I remember getting up at 5am to make the 7am boat and fish all day. shore fishing, you need a yearly beach pass right? then I start to think about the salt water, but hey, they spray down salt all winter.

Dan B. - maybe try millenium toyota in LI. I had issues with toyota @ bayside, long gone and forgotten. I wouldn't deal with that dealership again.

Head north my friend!!! I live on Long Island and besides the beach their are very few places to wheel around here. I'm a beach nut but I aviod taking the Tundra out in the sand. The salt destroys everything and sand isn't great either. You should take a ride upstate and explore some of the State Parks or find someone how owns land up there.

This past fall the New England guys did a trail ride in western Mass. that I helped organized. We rode on some nice easy trails and hit some mud too! Watch the New England forum I hope to do it again this year. You can check my photos to see some of the fun.

upstate! man, I use to be a frequent traveller there (syracuse area). I don't know anyone with LAND there. Also travel to Mass, same issue too. didn't know state parks allowed such activity. Maybe when such event comes around and I happen to be in the neighborhood... hmmm getting excited.

I guess there is no need to do slight modifications to the truck, seeing no one said anything about it.

It's plenty capable in stock form!

State Forest areas in NY I believe allow wheeling on trails. Check regs????
In Mass the State Forests allow access on designated trails ....no fee, no permit!! :tu:

Just so that you guys have ample warning: I am moving to NJ by Nov 1 to be closer to family. I am SOO looking to get in some 'wheeling when I get there. Unfortunately, I'll miss this particular trip. But I'll be down for outings when I get there, then I'll show you guys what traction is all about ;-)

See y'all soon!
