I bought a 6spd. automatic off eBay > low mileage, problem unknown - if there is one > came with TC.

Any Information available on these ?

Anyone raced with one of these ?

Up to what HP are these good for & what mods are recommended for 400HP
applications > ?

Any specialty parts for this > from whom > ?

Any shops specializing ?

Any Wizards on the List ?

I'd like to put this in my project > but not in 'Grenade' form.

Thanks in Advance !

Did you buy a whole car or just the transmission?

Just the Transmission & Convertor.

Going behind an American 360cu.in. V8 in a Street Project Car.

Those .jpgs of the demolished Planatary tells me that IPT is the next stop
on the 'Information Please' circut.

I'll try Toyota > but so far the people answering the phone want the #VIN
to work with and are not forthcoming with part upgrades Info.

It's a A761E. A 6-speed version of A750E which is currently on Tacoma/Tundra/Sequoia 2WD.

The rating should be higher than A340E.

Will the bell housing fit the engine block?

The transmission is controlled by engine computer. How are you going to resolve that?

There should be a riveted-on VIN tag on the case,is it missing?

Yes > tag is still there > and a controller is attatched to the side > wire to the Engine ECM (?)

My 'Educated Guesstimate' is that since this is capable of being shifted manually . those shift levers on the side will control the trans in the manual mode.

The Trans operates with throttle setting & load setting.

Finding an Interface to provide throttle setting should be easy > the load measurement is something I haven't read about.

Maybe the throttle position is assigned X and the engine loading is derived from rpm / throttle position ?

Having that Black box on the trans. should make any ' figgrin' easier.

There is one Co. online that does interfaces > have to search them up again .

I'm Psyched > going from a Three Speed TorqueFlite to a 6spd. automatic > this thing should run like a Turbine!

BMT-Any links/info for aftermarket OD/Front/rear planetary gears, specifically for the tundra auto trannys?

I thought that load sensing came from the vacuum in the intake manifold. That was my understanding of how it was done.

I didn't think the LS430 was able to shift "manually". Does it have buttons or do you just mean pulling through the different gears with the stick?

There are 5 quadrants on the shifter: PRNDS. S contains + and - toggle positions.

The S quadrant is not a manual mode. It's enables you to select 1-6.

1-6 are not gear position but range selector.
6: 1-6th gear
5: 1-5th gear
and so on.

Therefore, the transmission still need to interface ECM.

Looks as if I'll need to scout the shifter & parts up > doubt if HURST has anything.

*UPDATE*

Engine going with this A761E is now :

GM I-6 2006 4.2 LL8 DOHC

check this site: Inliners International devoted to all Inline powered vehicles (http://tinyurl.com/f5az6)

-or-

Inliners International devoted to all Inline powered vehicles (http://www.inliners.org/)

then:

One nice thing is the starter is in generally the same place - so my BIG question is :

=What other bellhousings does the the LS430-A761E share pattern with ?=

the Tacoma/Tundra/Sequoia 2WD ? anything else ? is this an Aisin ?

Westers Garage - Catalogs (http://westers_garage.eidnet.org/scprice.htm)

They have 'hacked' the LL8 ECM - going to see what it takes to interface the
A761E to the GM ECM.

IPT now has a stand alone shifter for Toyota Trans. > electronic manual shift.

There are also places for mechanical shift rods to connect to - no idea what they do yet.

Anyone know of who could craft up an Engine to Trans. adapter > much appreciated ! I have the LS430 Torque Convertor > probably mate to the GM flex plate .
