This poll is for a group buy for the Hellwig anti-sway bar. Many TSers have voted this mod as their best aftermarket item that they have added to their Tundra, especially for the price. If you are unfamiliar with this product, please see Hellwig's site (http://www.hellwigproducts.com/antiswaybars/index.html) or read through the following threads: the Q&A thread (http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32873&highlight=hellwig), another one (http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22369&highlight=hellwig), and recent experiences (http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40880&highlight=hellwig). There are many more threads about this product that you can find by doing a SEARCH.

This group buy is for TS Subscribers only (registered users please subscribe and begin enjoying the many benefits of TS.com).

The details for the anti-sway bar are as follows:
Vendor: Hellwig Products
Part Number: 7641 (1 1/8" diameter, steel, black, Tundra anti-sway bar kit)
Price: $150 + shipping via UPS Ground (bulk item rate applies)
Delivery Time: 3-4 days, most likely less since this is an off-the-shelf item, plus UPS's delivery time

There is not a minimum quantity required to get the discount but there are not any additional price breaks for large quantity orders either. I know many on this site ordered this product from Summit Racing, but they are not willing to participate in a group buy (I contacted 5 companies in total and Hellwig is offering the best deal).

If you'd like to participate, please vote Yes before 8/21.

I talked to Nancy at Hellwig and she said UPS 2nd day air would be $91. The only other option would be parcel post (which I believe is through normal US Postal Service) would be about $20, but it will take about 2 weeks to get to you. She didn't mention FedEx as an option. Would either of these work for you?

I lived in Anchorage for 7 years, so I feel your pain concerning shipping costs.

Parcel post will be fine. Just wanted to make sure UPS wasnt the only option. I really dont feel like paying over half the price of the sway bar in shipping charges. So you can still count me in. over and out

Just like the question above mine. I see it says bulk rate applies. Do we know how much the bulk rate is? That could jump the price right up to what a normal purchase would be through summit?

I am in if the shipping is the right price to los angeles.

Hobbes,

There's been some discussion in the TACOMA forum about the Hellwig and the possibility of quick disconnects.....is Hellwig offering anything like this in their deal??? If so you may draw a few more takers....could you please check it out and let us know...I'm in no matter what. Thanks

Due to forum rules, this poll must remain open for 10 days which brings us to 8/21. Since we've already had enough responses, you will have 7 days to place your order with Hellwig (8/22 - 8/29). You should then receive the items within 3-7 days after that (my estimate). Could you have it delivered to a friend and pick it up from them when you return? Just a thought.

Any clue as to how much shipping would be to Los Angeles, zip 91402?

I finally figured UPS' website out...I think. Hellwig is located between Fresno and Bakersfield, CA. Their zip code is 93292. If I am doing this correctly, Los Angeles is considered Zone 2 and the shipping cost will be $9.98. Their is no where on their charts that indicate an additional charge for oversized items, which the bar will be. So it may be slightly more than that. You can look up your zone here (http://www.ups.com/media/us/currentrates/zone-txt/932.txt) under the ground column based on the first three digits of your zip code and then check the rate here (http://www.ups.com/media/us/currentrates/rate-pdf/gndres.pdf) based on your zone and the shipping weight of 36 lbs. The size of the package is 46x29x3 inches. When you enter this info directly into their cost estimator, they list all of the air freights but not the ground rate :td:. Worst case (excluding AK and HI) is $41 shipping to New York. She was going to give me a cost that included shipping, but realized she would be screwing over the Californians and benefitting the east coast so she left shipping out of the price.

Nancy said that Hellwig looked into making a quick disconnect set but then went to SEMA and found that there are many other companies that offer this product. Apparently they had come up with a design and she is checking to see if they would be willing to make some and sell them to those who want them. Overall, they decided not to offer them directly since the market is saturated with quick disconnect products. She is also going to look up a few companies that do make them and that will fit the Tundra kit and I will relay the contact information. So please hold on while she gets me the details. I haven't read these other threads but she definitely believes that they are out there if you guys have been having a hard time locating them.

So many questions :D! Keep them coming and I will do my best to provide timely answers.

I do not know about this price :( . I just bought mine Hellwig anti-sway bar from JCWhitney for $135 plus shipping. I bought two items and shipping was $21.99 so I think that $150 shipped is more reasonable. I think that they should be able to give a better deal for volume sales. Just my opinion but I do praise the product as I have noticed a night/day difference with mine and highly recommend it. :ts:

JC Whitney was one of the five vendors that I contacted. As already mentioned, their price is $169.95 + $18.99 shipping. In regards to a group buy, they were willing to give a 10% discount which brought the price to $152.96 + 18.99 shipping. The other catch is that they only have 7 in stock and the rest would be on a 30 day back order. I've read past threads where people were buying these for $135. I was really hoping to get a group discount down to or below this value but no luck. Maybe I'm just not that persuasive of a guy?! Hellwig doesn't sell directly to the public either. They just recently changed their policy in regards to group buys which is why they are willing to do this. So in short, it's the best price I could find...

Just my .02 as a member who already has this item.

This is probably the most you will get out of a mod when it comes to value vs. cost. When I first took my DC for a real drive is when I noticed how loose it felt in the rear on turns and corners. The sway and roll was greatly diminished after installing the bar. The truck drove and tracked tighter.
As far as I am concerned Hellwig knows customer service too.
I had to request replacement parts after not getting my lower endlink nuts as tight as I should (torqued those babies this time). I called Hellwig prepared to pay whatever cost was quoted, only thing was they didn't qoute me a price. Just told me to expect them via UPS in a few days. New endlinks, bushing, washers, and nuts with shipping all free!

If your on the fence, get off and make the purchase, you won't regret it.

Thanks for the encouragement. The illegal poll that started a few weeks ago and then got cut off is what prompted me to move on it. KLINDSEY has been providing advice along the way...and he's the one who suggested the GB in the first place.

Man I missed the JBA headers buy, sure don't want to miss this one, can I order now?

So when can we buy it and who do we talk to and where do we call?

Per TS rules, we have to wait until the poll is complete before taking the next step (please correct me if I'm wrong nhparrot). So starting 8/22 we can begin placing orders with Hellwig. I will provide all of the contact information at that time (I still need to verify the details with Hellwig concerning the exact ordering steps). Hellwig has been great to deal with. Apparently they have 6 other group buys going with other online forums right now. I'm confident that you will all have an easy time placing your orders and with any subsequent questions or problems that you may have upon receiving the product.

Speaking of which, I neglected to mention one option that Hellwig proposed last time I talked with them. They are willing to provide the bars in a color other than black if the entire GB participants agree to one color. I figure this may be difficult if not impossible to all agree on one color but thought I'd through it out there anyway. It would be a nightmare for them to provide each individual their own color. This way then can just run the entire GB batch through the powder coating process with another color after receiving all of the orders. Feel free to express your opinion on the color issue and what color you'd want. I thought it was cool that they even offer this...another :tu: for their customer service.

I need to talk to Nancy today anyway, so I will inquire about this request. I agree that this shouldn't really add too much work for them (other than ordering the red powder since they probably don't stock it). The black bars should be off-the-shelf and then they only have to run a batch of red bars for those that want them. I imagine that this will add a little bit of time for delivery for the red bars only. They will most likely wait until all orders are received so they know the quantity of red bars and then run those through the powder coating process together. I just don't want anyone ordering a red bar to get upset when the delivery time is longer. But let me talk to Nancy first. If she puts up resistance then I'll bust out some hypnotic suggestion on her:

Me: "These aren't the droids...oh um, you will split the order between red and black bars."
Nancy: "I will split the order between red and black bars."
Me: "You won't charge us shipping for these orders."
Nancy: "I won't charge you shipping for these orders."

If only it was that easy....

My other question for her is to follow up on the quick disconnect issue, which I know many of you are very interested in. I'll hopefully have a response by this afternoon.

Off subject... I put a dent in my rear bumper of my 2005, Toyota Tundra Double Cab Limited, gun metal grey color... dealer wants $250 for the replacement bumper and $100 to install it... where can I get a replacement bumper for a good price?

TIA!

Sorry, I've been out of the loop... so what's the deal? Do we get a choice of red or black? (I would like a red one! ) And did anyone find out about a quick-disconnect kit? (Who makes them and where to buy?)

This is my first group buy and I don't know the process. Do I vote 'yes' now to be counted in, or is that just to get a feeler of who's interested? How do I proceed with paying? :ts:

What is the downside to installing the anti-sway bars?

Less clearance on 4W DR, so I guess this would cause a problem if I plan on going over large boulders?

Anything else?

My vote is for black....no need to draw attention to it...I like the stealth look it would have underneath being black

Actually I dont believe thats the case. If I remember right from my install the antisway bar is not the lowest part. I believe your pumpkin is still the lowest part of the underside of the vehicle as far as the rear end goes. You get better (much better) handling on road. You must get either quick disconnects or disconnect the endlinks from the frame before going offroading. If you dont you went dramatically decrease your capabilities because the antisway bar will not allow the axel to articulate.

I was actually just helping SteveA understand any downfalls of an antisway bar not promoting a certain product/company :) . But since you asked for my opinion here it comes. While I have not found disconnects that are specifically for a tundra. I have found these www.warriorproducts.com is which I am interested in getting. They are stainless steel have polyuertane bushings and look really awesome  .(I do not like the enlinks or bushings that come with the Hellwig antisway bar as they look cheap). They give typical Jeep measurements but say they will work for any vehicle. You will need to find what size endlinks you need and as far as I know thats all you need. :ts:

I apologize for disappearing for a few days. I didn't hear back from Nancy until Wednesday, but I was out of town for work. And yesterday I tried to log on a half dozen times and got "the server is currently busy" message. I do have some updated info though.

Quick Disconnects: Hellwig has decided to begin manufacturing these for the anti-sway bar. She will have additional details including the price on Monday. I think our group buy and requests for the disconnects is what convinced them to go forward with this product. As I mentioned before, they already had them designed but decided not to manufacturer them. Worst case is that they are not ready to begin making these by the time our orders start to come in, in which case she will offer Warrior disconnects. Apparently they are somewhat of partners. Either way, you will be able to order the quick disconnects at the same time as your bar!

Colors: Hellwig is fine with us placing orders for both the standard black and red bars. It would only be an issue if 5 people wanted green bars, 3 wanted blue, 18 red, etc. Red is a standard powder coating color for some of their other components, so they keep the powder in stock. She would prefer that there are at least 10 red bars ordered since they can hang 10 bars at a time, but I think she will provide them regardless of the number ordered. Since they keep the red powder in stock, this also means that they should be able to ship them the same week that they are ordered. I will mention this again with the ordering details, but if you want red you will have to specify this in your order. The default is black.

I have two issues that I need to discuss with Glenn (nhparrot) but then we will be ready to place orders. Apparently I could have posted ordering info as soon as 10 yeses were recorded. I was trying to speed things up this week when the aforementioned delays occurred. Be looking for a new post in the Group Buy forum with these details either late today or tomorrow depending on when I get a response from Glenn. Those of you wishing to order the quick disconnects may want to wait until next week when Nancy has the remaining details concerning pricing, etc. Thanks for your patience as I am still learning all of the in's and out's of group buys. Hellwig has been great to deal with though and is making this pretty easy. Stay tuned.....
