I saw a thread a couple of weeks ago were someone had raised the question asking if the spacer lift kits had any known negative effects on the ball joints. I didn't see the responces to that and I can't find the thread...sooo I'm asking the question now. I'm looking into the Toytec 3" spacer/add a leaf. And I'm just double checking before I go ahead and do it.
Thanks, Blotto :)

Just stay away from bigger spacers that mount on top of the coil springs perch. The most you want to go with the top mount kind is 1/2 inch. The ride stays the same with those but puts you at risk of over extending your ball joints. Some companies use a combo of the two, a spacer on top, and one over the springs, if you go with one of those just make sure the top mount spacer is no more than 1/2 inch. Toytec and Revtek are good places to look for spacers. I'd go with the Toytec because they have good customer service and are cheaper.

Also don't forget to get a differental drop kit, that will help take the stress off of the ball joints bringing everything back to normal.

A diff drop won't do sh*t for your ball joints, or control arms. They are to help with CV angles. I think Tacogirl had a diff drop and it caused vibration. Diff drops are useless on an 05.

Yes I had the diff drop in with only the 2.5" lift (I elected not to use the top spacer). The vibration was greatly reduced when I took the diff drop out. However I do still have SOME vibration between 20-35MPH. Haven't figured it out yet just know it appears to be on the driver's side. Notice it a little more since putting the 33s on. Of course I'm listening/feeling for it more which is why it may be more noticeable. Anyone else have this issue? Wish I knew what the heck it is!

How's the back lifted blocks or AAL? If it's an AAL it may be that your pionion angle is out and you'll have to shim the rear axle to get it back in line.

Im having my Toytec kit installed tomorrow on my 05 Access Cab, should I not have the diff drop installed? Why would they add it if it only causes vibration?

Yes the back is lifted with the AAL that came with the kit. I don't know the first thing about shimmin' my pinion! :D but if you can point me in the right direction I'll be happy to give it a try. Maybe with the new tires in I should try adding the top spacers...???
mauibound - I didn't install the full 3" kit which is why I took the diff drop out (it doesn't even come with the 2.5" kit).

I'm not sure where to get them, maybe Demello, I don't know really sorry. What they do is rotate your axle up so it's in a straight line with your drive shaft, just like it was from the factory. When you lift your truck your axle stays at the same angle but your drive shaft angle is increased so it's not a perfect line. Blocks usually have a taper built in to them to correct this, AAL's don't. This can cause vibration. How much lift do you have in the rear? If you have 2.5-3" in the rear you may want to try a 1-2 degree shim.

mauibound - let us know how the install turned out. I also have an 05 access cab. I'm curious on the results.
Thanks, Blotto
