The vehicle will not start sometimes unless you play with the clutch. I think that there may be a short of some sort.
I have to press the clutch in waaaaaay deep for it to start sometimes and sometimes it wont start............so I move the shifter to 1st and back to neutral............then it will start.
Sometimes there is no problem at all.....
Whats up with these crazy *** Toyota?

I too am just now having this problem. First it took two turns of the key to start, seemed to start when I depressed clutch to floor. then it took 3 times and once it took four twists of key to start my freaking paseo "zipper" (my nickname). Anyone know whats going on here? Someone suggested ignition switch? some erosion and absence of contact which effects start??/ Havent gotten much more than this suggestion....anyothers? Thanks....93paseo

Check out your clutch start switch- it may have become loose over the years and just needs a little adjustment in order for it to work properly again. It's near the upper part of the clutch pedal, you should see the swith and the contact plate on the upper end of the clutch pedal.

i dont think this is the switch. you can hear the switch toggle when you barely press the clutch.
unless there is a linkage between the slave cylinder and the pedal that causes this?????
