I think I spotted Glen around 8pm at Eastern and Corando or so.

Also spotted a black double cab with RCD, I think, on some Moto Metals wrapped in Nitto Mud Grapplers by Carabas at Eastern near Saint Rose around the same time.

Anything going on this weekend? I'll be in Vegas late saturday night.
I'll be working on another TS members Tundra Saturday morning, then
Starting at 2pm ----> 12am? There are PSCA drag races at "THE STRIP" along with JET FUNNYCARS (7PM start).
We will be there racing my buddies Camaro (10.40's@132mph).
Monday I'll be at the MDA TELETHON answering phones. My son has MD.
I think sunday is open for some sort of quick gathering. I'll check with my wife and see if she has anything planned or if I forgot something.
Anyone else?

I'll be flying in late saturday night. Possible party when we get there. Bedtime is usually 11pm LOL!!! We are staying at the Hilton. I'd love to check out the races but, it may be over by the time we land on the tarmac. We are probably going to be walking a lot as I've heard the streets are filled with people and driving on the strip would suck on Labor Day weekend.

Yup flyin' in. Not sure, it all depends on what my friends, cousins and of course the Better Half wants to do. They consider this "Tundra Club" as a cult. I just laugh and just say they are jealous. Don't know if they would as excited as I would to meet up with a bunch of tundra(or in general TS) members. I'll be on the look out for vehicles with the TS stickers.

The steak house is great, they just remodeled or are in the middle of remodeling. It looks nice from all I have seen.
Booked the room for the 26th - 30th November there.

You coming SEPT 10 to the next LV meet?
What about NOV12?

Talked to the wife tonight, sounds like she will stay home and mind the dogs.
So at this point it sounds like it is a go.

Did they ever get the 215 finished on that side of town or is it still get off and take the access roads? course it might be just as ez to loop around and come in from the North.

Looks like I am on for the 10th, 215 as it heads out around Sommerlin. Last time I was out there it was a mess with detours etc.
With the meet out there its either come in from the south on 215 or north on the 95\Summerlin Pkwy.

I'm trying to get my buddy, who has a lifted Tundra to go, but he works graveyard until 8am on Sunday. He said he is going to try and make it out.

Besides, from what I have read on the other posts, it seems as though the Vegas people have been fortunate with people showing up for our meetings/get togethers (except for our first meeting).

Any Tundra Solutions member is welcomed to our events. We try to plan our events about a month or so out.

I'm pretty much a certainty! I would be coming by myself. Since Rlehan and I live nearby each other (relatively speaking), we could possibly do the caravan thing down together. About the only thing I have yet to decide is whether I take Friday off of work and drive down then. That would give me 2 full days in town before heading back on Monday. Otherwise, it's alot of driving for one day in Vegas.

Well finding a decent room in Henderson for under $75/night seems to be a challenge. I've tried Priceline on Hawthorn Inn and Suites, but no go. Priceline “suggested” I try a bid @ $93/night. The Fiesta is sold out on the 10th and 11th. Sunset station is $139/night. I was hoping to find a place nearby.

Any other suggestions from the locals? :)

OK, reservations have been made at the Hawthorn Inn and Suites for an average of just under $100/night. Rlehan and I will share a room to help reduce expenses. We'll arrive Friday sometime and head out on Monday. I'm looking forward to the meet! :tu:

Ya'll better sharpen up your bowling skills! :D

By the way, I'm cutting out of work early today and heading out camping for the weekend up at Mt. Lassen in northern CA. We're hiking to the summit (10,457 feet) on Saturday. Here's a link (http://www.nps.gov/lavo/planyourvisit/hiking_lassen_peak.htm) in case you're interested on what it looks like. I'd drive to the top, but I'd probably get shot by a Park Ranger.

Should or can the thread be renamed to "Las Vegas Meet - November 12th"? Instead of Las Vegas Thread? It might gain more exposure if the title reflected this as an actual meet vs. a thread about Las Vegas. Make sense?

Ok found a Delamar sounds iffy for some rigs.

COMMENTS: Rather exstensive ruins and a few facades of buildings on the main street. It's quite a long ride to the site as it is about 35 miles from the Crystal Springs cutoff on rather changable roads and through a few dry washes. This is Four wheel drive travel only after you exit the Extraterrestrial Highway.
Delamar is off US 93 approx. 16 miles west of Caliente, NV. Drive about 15 miles south on a gravel/rock road to Delamar. Sign is posted on gravel road. Four wheel drive vehicle is likely required.

Please remember everyone it is going to be cold on Sunday. With us about 100miles out of town, it will be alot colder up north. I know its sucks on the one day we are having an off-road excursion its cold, but hey, I couldn't predict the weather. Hopefully the next event will be warmer.

9-10AM would be better

I dont want to drive in any type of weather in the dark.
100+ miles up and 100+ miles back in poor weather conditions takes alot longer than normal.

What a blast!!! Delamar was fun, even though the temp ranged from 23 to 34 degrees. At least the wind wasn't blowing. We plan on going back there in May and hopefully we can get alot more people to come along with us.

I've learned one thing on off-roading: If the trail you came up on is in working order, don't try and do something different, by going to another trail. I learned the hard way by having to back down a 1/2 mile on a narrow trail surrounded by rocks on one side and a steep drop-off on the other.

I will try and get my pics posted sometime this week. See you all in March or April.

They can be found at

The flying Tundra theme is that running the power line road (which was pretty smooth) we were running at speeds around 70 mph or so. Wham out of no where is a ramp/ dip. It sure enabled us to catch some serious air.
If anyone would ever like to visit or just pull up the place on a mapping program here are the
GPS coordinates
Turn right off of 93 at N37.19.991 W115.08.369 elevation 3452 travel 14.6 miles aprox.

east to N37.19.972 W114.55.378 elevation of 4881

Turn left and head north to N37.28.841 W114.51.070 elevation of 4881 (25.6 miles) and

turn right then veer left fork to N37.29.150 W114.47.845 elevation of 5559 (28.5 miles) turn

right cemetary coming up on right side at N37.28.420 W114.46.795 elevation of 5737 (29.9 miles)

Continue to N37.27.421 W114.46.190 elevation of 5954 to arrive at Delamar Ghost Town. Aprox 31.9 miles

I just uploaded pics of Tuesdays exploration of Christmas Tree Pass Ghost town.
They can be found at http://www.tundrasolutions.com/photopost/showgallery.php/ppuser/50117/cat/500
I did not take the time to fully explore the area but its been said there is a natural spring and some mines to explore there as well.
I left the road about 5 miles south of Searchlight east to the powerline road south to the road to the USCG Loran site up and over the hill towards the river returned back towards the powerline road south to Christmas tree pass road found the road that would take me over to the ghost town explored it then back and over the pass to grapevine canyon and then headed back to Kingman.
Not sure how many miles in the dirt but it was a lot, after the recent rain some areas were soft and silty washes washed out etc. Great time was had exploring!

The BBQ is going to happen in warmer months May or June or August. July we are in Montana for 3 weeks or so enjoying that.
The BBQ will be across the river from Cottonwood cove Nevada, on the Arizona side near a old airfield site.

We still need to return to Delamar Ghost town, depart at o dark thirty take our time exploring the other way in this time.

Ok question of the week...R u all willing to come to Kingman then on over towards Ashfork and explore the Chinese built RR tunnel then over to the Stone dam and or steel dam area?

Or do ya want something closer to Kingman? I can run ya down 93 to Wikieup catch Chicken Springs over to Alamo Lake rd down to the North side of Alamo Lake?

alright fellas. made it back to tempe safely. thanks to everyone who showed up. it was great meeting all of you and dinner was delish too. haha.

the frat house was in a pretty marginal area, but no problems with my truck. my buddies room was super close to the parking lot.

anyways. i can't really tell that much difference in the power. it was climbing the hills really well though. gotta retune my unichip tomorrow tho due to the addition of headers to the motor. so after that and some miles on it i think everything will be squared away.

oh yea. gas mileage there was about 14.5-15. that was at about 80MPH average with O/D off for about half the trip up all the damn hills. i was stoked. i haven't calculated yet for the headers part yet.

peace.

Ok its on! Sunday April 29th
Not sure if the wife is gonna make it or not, busy times at her workee.
We are heading to Ashfork, investigating the chinese built railroad tunnel. To stone dam lake and play there, eat lunch etc. Last time there the shore line was muddy or mucky. So bring shoes sandals tevas etc that can play in the muck.
The road into Steel dam is narrow and not much parking at it, but thats why its remote.
Ashfork is just over a 100 miles from Kingman..
This bring us to the question
Would leaving Kingman at 9am be ok with everyone? to early? or?
Just don't want to cut the day to short for exploration.
Victor
by the tunnel and the stone dam lake there are campers/rvs parked all along the old route 66 section.
Is that what you were thinking? use it there as a hub to rotate out of?

Hello everyone!

This is my first post. I have a 2005 SR5 Tundra 4x4, and I live in LV. My truck is still stock, and the only off-roading I've been doing is when LV road construction causes detours to/from Walmart.

I want to lift and upgrade my truck so that I can do some travelling to off-road parks or good campsites. Although high-speed off-road racing / jumping looks fun, I doubt I would do any of that.

I used to have a 1990 S-15 Jimmy with a 7" lift + 35" tires, but that truck gave me nothing but problems. Any wrench turning experience I've gained was because of this first truck. Other experience came from helping friends fix their import racers back in CA.

I want to fix up my Tundra right the first time. It doesn't matter how long I take, as long as I can drive it after each step.

I'm thinking of starting with the 6" RCD. It looks like a good project, but I'm not sure if I can do it in my time window. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Get in touch with Mustang67408. He is a Toyota guru and could point you in the right direction. The RCD lift is a really popular option.

Welcome aboard. Check this thread from time to time, we are going to possibly have another meet sometime in June.

As Matt Posted Welcome aboard!!!!!!
Pm the mustang and attend some of our get togethers. Some times they are rougher than others.:)

It is getting close to June (already, before you know it Christmas will be here). I haven't had a chance yet to run the trail from Mesquite to St. George, Utah. I will try and run it in the next few weeks. I have been busy trying to get my backyard done.

If I can't get this going, does anyone have another idea (i.e. like maybe going back to Delamar), or do we just want to meet for dinner somewhere?

Let me know.

Welcome back Victor, hope you all had fun in Hawaii.

Hawaii was AWESOME!!! Can't say i am glad to be back :o .

All of my weekends in June are booked, we have an unexpected funeral to go to next weeked in caif (8th)
The next weekend is Fathers day (17th)
The next weekend we have to go to Calif for Personal reasons. (23rd)

So the weekend of June 30th is open for us as far as I know.

I was just over surfing the Arizona Strip BLM site
Bureau of Land Management Arizona - Land Use Planning (http://www.blm.gov/az/LUP/strip/FEIS.htm)
Towards the bottom of the page is a item called route designations.
Click on A1 and B1 brings up roads around Mesquite and Littlefield plus there are maps of the whole area. You can magnify these maps as well.

Just another resource for us if we get up that way.

I did fall off the planet. School and Work started to kick me the nuts. I'm back in School at UNLV working on my masters in Accounting.

Sad to say, I purchased a new car as well. I went with Nissan (Don't yell at me) 350Z, but I still have the Highlander for TS meets. haha

I had so much fun trailblazing, Glen remembers seeing me, but I wanted to try AutoX (I feel a little safer than running through the dirt REALLY fast). So I bought a 350Z Roadster and Boosted it.:D 5 PSI through a centrifugal blower.

Looks like June 30th? I'll bring the new car.
Damn I get jealous seeing lifted to holy hell Tundra's around. I saw a Camburg LT with new unpainted fenders on, on Maryland by the campus.

They sent a "ENGINEER" out for us to be inspected as we installed lift kits. He passed us with flying colors.
The guy certified Victor & Rich, so that keeps the factory warranty on the truck if we do the install IF you buy the kits from us. If something breaks on the lift kit, they will warranty it as long as it is NOT FROM ABUSE. (jumping, submersion ect....)Alignment included to DJ specs is so desired.

Maybe the sunday after the next TS meet, or if you can wait until msr1011 gets his antenna that I need to install (waiting on him), we can do it that day.

You still have the heat gun? Whenever works..just let me know and ill be over there.

You don't need no stinkin heat gun. haha. I used Duck Tape adhesive remover, two screw drivers as handles, and fishing line. Came out great. Had a slight fade because I did it 4+ years into the truck.

When I was at your place I left the gps coordinates there with ya on the bench. Map and such will relook em up again.
Coming south is a left turn towards Dolan Springs, (pierce ferry road mp 42)after passing that keep going south on 93 look out for Cottonwood cove road to the right at MP 45 or so. (Will see the dirt road heading west and up over the black mountains from 93)
Get there to early maybe chilly willy, 9 am or 10 am to early? 10 maybe better but it will be toasty by 9 I bet.
Yes 2x will be just fine, seen cars down in there etc.
I can bring a bbq and charcoal kind of stuff, everyone bring there own prefered meat items will work out details over next couple days.
It is remote no running water except the river, shade is what we bring unless the cottonwoods are bushed up.

Ok, I Have maps in a safe place . I kinda figured Cottonwood Cove area.
I think I can get M&L to come with us too. I will ask them THURS when I see them.
I can bring a canopy for some manmade shade.
Generator if needed.
MMM I smell the steaks already....

p.s. post this in the AZ forum and see if anyone there can make it too.

I do have tarps and extendable poles lots of parachute cord and plenty of stakes to hold er down as well.
I left the commode shelter and generators in Montana but should not need em. I have packed dry ice down there and had ice cream while siting in the water. so thats a thought as well.

I will also post in the az side as well.

We won't be able to attend that one, seems if we take the kids it restricts us where we can stay big time.

Plus we are painting the house this weekend and trying to get the remodel wrapped up, could take several more weekends to finish everything up.

If we can pull off Tom's Farm meet that might be a possiblity.

Hello Everyone,

My name is Mark, I live in Henderson, and I drive an 05 Tundra DC 2WD. I started my modifications in 05 with a Leer 700 tonneau, spray-in bed liner, billet grill and bumper, TRD skid plate, chrome nerf bars, and window tint. This year I added a 6” RCD lift, 20” Helo Maxx 6 wheels, and 35” Nitto Terra Grappler tires. I have plans to add a Magnaflow dual exhaust and the Conductor’s Special train horns by the end of the year. For next year, I plan to add electronics and I am considering having the rear end re-geared (not sure yet). Well, that’s about it for the truck and maybe I’ll be able to meet up with everyone at the next meet in town.

Not that I am aware of.
We try to make sure all 2WD's are able to navigate safely. Most people have 2wd.
There will be 4wd's just in case.
Maybe Rambrush could elaborate since I have not persoannaly been on this trail yet.

Well actually I have not been there yet,Do a google search and you can locate a lot of info on the area though. Google earth helps somewhat.Have not looked at it from MS Terraserver yet but also might be a option.
Sounds pretty easy if the birders are getting in there.
Another thought I will research is geocaching in that area.

I'm baby sitting a ship in Guam right now. No more truck play time for me.

Has anybody did any off-roading in the (Blue Diamond X Fort Apache) area? I've seen foothills with caves and lots of trails/tracks in this area. If you take Blue Diamond west toward Pahrump, and turn right on Fort Apache, you will see all the hills and trails on your left as you travel north.

I have GPS coordinates of
N36 16.238
W115 16.082
These are based off of a Red Lobster that is there also, Map does not reflect Red Robin.
So I can navigate to the area with these specs. But I am showing get off at Ann over to Centennial and up to Tropical is this correct?

I revised and removed the Durango rd. think this is the best shot. plus the gps will help guide us country folk there.

ELDORADO DRY LAKE VALLEY AREA Take US 95 South toward Boulder City. A mile or so after passing the Railroad Pass Casino, turn right, staying on US 95 towards Searchlight and travel approximately 7 miles until you see Eldorado Dry Lake Bed on the right. There are many access routes in this area from which to travel and explore. RVs can camp in this area.

My wife and I were in Vegas for a few days with the 04 Tundra in late April visiting former SFV Ca neighbors. We stayed at Sam's Town (arrived a day early without reservations) and Harrah's where we had reservations. I tried my darnedest to get over to your shop to thank you personally for all the help you've given me but ran out of time. We had a tight schedule with Vegas, Simi Valley Ca, Lake Isabella Ca, Porterville Ca, Grass Valley Ca, on our round trip. Tundra ran great, got decent mileage and with the Navigation and Sirius radio I was entertained and never lost over the 5300 mile round trip. Fuel total was right at $1000 as was our Hotel bill total.

Hey Mustang 67408, Do you have an idea when the next meet will be?
If you have an idea of where to meet, PLEASE POST.
SUNDAYS are the best for almost everyone
RED ROBIN has reached it's limit with all of us.
We had 19 TS members and family last time, so we need a place that will accomidate that plus more. I have met a few of the newer tundra owners from work and they are interested in meeting as well.
We are thinking of meeting at MORMON WELL ROAD. It is a bird watcher RD/power line road so it will accomidate 2wd and 4wd vehicles. There is a mix of both, so if a 2wd ever gets stuck, there is a 4x4 to help out.

As you all may or may not know, FINDLAY TOYOTA is building a new facility across the fwy from where we are now. It will be state of the art so all my spare time is set gearing up for "THE MOVE" over to the new store. I am the shop foreman so there are tons of things for me to do.
Like I said Sundays is usually the best for everyone, so before the weather gets much hotter, lets plan this.

May 18th
June 1st

Lets decide between these 2 weekend.
anyone???

671Tundra
05-04-2008, 11:50 PM
What's up Victor!!! Again, I sincerely Thank You for all your help. I'll be sure to mention your name, Steve, Bill, and Andre on the Toyota Survey when I fill it out once the Sekurit issue is resolved. You guys ROCK!!!

What's up everyone?! I'm Eric, one of the new guys Victor is talking about. I'm new to the truck world, let alone the FULL SIZED ones so I can't wait to have a little fun with the mods and versatility that it offers. Now I can buy and take home a full 4' x 8' sheet of plywood and not have Lowe's cut it into 2 pieces so it can fit in my 4Runner. :p But man do I miss my 4Runner.

Anyway, can't wait to meet hang with the crew.

May 18: I'll be out of town that weekend and will be coming in late afternoon. If it works for everyone else, I'll be sure to join in on the next one.

June 1: Works for me. School year ends the first week of June so that'll be a great way to start off my summer vacation. :D

If the next meet is going to be too big of a group for a restaurant to accommodate us, I say we just load up the barbeque grill and coolers and hit up a park. Otherwise a day at Mormon Well Road sounds like fun.

mustang67408
05-05-2008, 07:09 AM

Ok here is the link to it.

Birding Mormon Well Road (http://www.birdandhike.com/Bird/DNWR/Mormon_Well/Mormon_Well.htm)

Page 2 on the above link reflects some coordinates as well.

If you have the Nevada Road and Rec atlas its on page 80. has a great profile of the route.
If you only have the regular Nevada Atlas & Gazetteer its on page 70 & 66 not as detailed maps.

Ok the turn off is
N36 25.57
W115 25.39
Labeled on my map as Desert National Wildlife Range Rd.
Corn Creek Field Station is
N36 26.349
W115 21.383

attached is a attempt at showing the coordinates along the road and how we can come in from hwy 93 or 95

I made a run out there today.
There is a brown sign advising the Desert National Wildlife Range and Corn Creek Road is to the right. Comes up pretty quick.
Before you get there there is a gravel pit on the right side.
The next landmark would be exit 95 to the Indian Reservation.
In other words
1.Exit 95
2.Gravel pit
3.Corn creek road

There is a lake back in a ways called Searles Resevoir it mabe a great place for lunch.

The coordinates off of my GPS are
N36 25.5458
W115 25.3552

There is a small parking area on the right as you exit the highway.
