Took my new 06 Tundra w/ 3500 miles on the odo on a trip from Phoenix AZ to Santa Fe NM. I have to say, I am very pleased with this truck's performance on road trips. The passing power with the VVTi is incredible. Plenty of power even at 75 mph to pass VERY quickly. I averaged about 18 mpg, doing about 85-90 mph most of the way. Even at that speed it was very smooth and stable. I can't really come up with any complaints. Good stuff.

cool

I had to drive my new to me 05 Tundra DC home from MD to VA two weeks ago, its about a 2 hour drive. Lets just say I was REALLY impressed how it handled and how comfortable it was, I mean those cracks in the road just disappeared, it was like riding on air. And I really had to get used to the passing power it has compared to my 00 4runner, wow, night and day!

Good to hear. I may be taking a road trip from San Diego out to Phoenix. That's gonna suck. I'll have to drive in the dirt as a "pick me up" from the boring drive

I did a road trip last month from South San Francisco to Santa Monica and back about a month ago. Its about 6 hours each way. Like everyone else said, the truck is so smooth you'd think you were in a caddy. The V8 for passing is another big plus. No problems there.

Great truck!

did my first road trip in it this weekend, 3 hour drive to my parents house with a light load in the back. i don't think i've been in a vehicle that's actually FUN to drive. my wife was curled up on the seat like it was a couch, she was that comfortable.

I'm sure you'll have just as much fun as me when I go out there :( (sense the sarcasm :p )

I'm going out in Nov, maybe it won't be face melting hot out there by then.

I have to agree with you. I just took my new DC to northern Az over the holiday weekend. I was amazed at how well I was able to pass heading up the Mogollon Rim. I love this truck!

Last summer I drove from Toronto to Boston (550 miles one way), then down to Newport Rhode Island, followed the coast, then made my way up through Hartford, into Springfield (didn't see the Simpsons), then back to Toronto. In total, I think I drove 1600 miles or so. Truck was great the whole time, through mountains, interstates, back roads...even through Boston...which has to be the worst place in the world to drive.

Last March my Mom, Great Aunt and I all took my truck on a road trip from Tucson, AZ up to the Grand Canyon and to my birthplace of Page, AZ. On that trip, my truck handled and rode exceptionally well and averaged about 19 MPG on a road trip over 1115 miles.

Took a road trip last month to norhtern Michigan from Cleveland. Roughly 500 miles one way and it was beautiful. I avereged 19.4/gal, with the AC cranked and cruise set around 80-85 mph.
I was in my truck for 7.5 hours and barely noticed.
Next road trip Cleveland to Amarillo. :tu:
