I have a 2000 Toyota Camry that will not start. The starter turns over for about 1 second then the solenoid 'clicking' begins. There seems to be an abnormal high current draw, as the console lights dim more than normal during the attempted start.
I’ve disconnected the battery and tried to jump start the car bypassing the Camry battery. No improvement. I’ve changed the starter, same results. I’ve swapped out the starter relay, yep, same symptoms. I’ve check several fuses and they are good (unless there is one I missed). Anyone have any ideas?

Based upon the my experience and the symptoms your describing. Make sure you have a good ground cable, ie cable itself, connections etc. Verify battery conditon. How do I know I went through this my Garden tractor and another vehicle, on one it was the battery and the other was a faulty ground cable. I hope this helps.

I’ve changed the starter, same results.

Where did you get the replacement starter? It is not unknown for a rebuilt, especially from places like Pep Boys and Autozone, to be DOA out of the box.
