Does anyone know how to disable this feature? They are a good idea on paper but are a pain in the rear if you want to idle with no lights on.

There is a DRL dropping resister just behind the left front headlamp/turn signal. It is attached to the bulkhead with a single bolt, and there is a grey connector. There is a button on the connector you push in (facing the front of the truck), and the part of the connector to the left side of the vehicle slides out. It takes a bit of force to get it to budge. Once unplugged, no more annoying DRLs.:D

My 05 Tundra has DRL's and I am glad. But it is nice to have them off at times. Mine will stay off if the truck is parked and the parking brake is on. You might try that. You can then have it both ways!

the drl's don't turn on until you put the car in gear. so if you want to just idle with the lights off, try turning the car off, then back on and leaving it in park. emily

Go aftermarket
or buy an FJ that has them

Not on mine - DRLs come on as soon as the engine does. It doesn't matter if in park or drive, parking brake on or off, or whatever. I don't think it's a big deal, but I could definitely see how being able to turn them off might be nice.
