Local accessory suppliers, and my Toyota dealer, still have little or nothing to offer for the FJ. What they do have seems very expensive (example, step-boards for $825+), and many big US accessory sites are California based. Some I've contacted don't ship to Canada, some do but big stuff gets pricey to ship, and none seem to have Canadian distribution.

We're heading to Florida in January, and I wondered if anyone (especially Canucks) has any recommendations about availability in Florida, or on the way down.
Are there any companies you'd recommend for running boards or step pipes or grills or lights?

Though this balmy January weather makes me think more about trout season's opening, there is still a nasty winter ahead, and I want to cover my spare tire til Spring.
Unfortunately, Toyota cannot provide any information or picture of the rear tire soft cover they sell, other than its price (about $170 Cdn). "If I order it and don't like it it's mine anyhow."
To this date, I have seen NO FJ with a cover, except in ads and online.
My question: Is the Toyota soft cover the one with the tire tread and FJ logo that I see in lots of pics online?

I purchased mine from Toyota. That was the same price that I paid and it has the tracks with the FJ on it all black.

Agreed...and the few accessories that they do carry are outrageously expensive. Just for kicks, I checked out how much the 17" aluminum FJ rims are worth...$632 CDN per rim!!!

Of all the vehicles we've had since 1970, this FJ has the weakest, puniest anemic sound output of them all!

I've seen a few options listed on a few US sites, from dual replacements up to expensive airhorns in the $400 range.
It isn't just an aesthetic thing of having a tough sound from a tough-looking truck: safety-wise the horn has low output, barely heard in the truck. I may do a spl/db reading on it just to confirm my impressions.

Any suggestions from those who replaced it?

Zilch!
I was told they'd had a number of inquiries, but there's nothing coming.

The prices seem to be coming down on US sites (ex. Real Wheels) but finding them here is still not possible. With the rise in the Cdn dollar, they should be more affordable/reasonable here, if one could find them.

The other day for the first time I saw a company listing the OEM/Black boards that come with the C package, which my dealer still says are not available from Toyota as a kit purchase, only as a buyeverydarnboltnutandwasherandpieceseparately order. I might order them. They're a bit cheaper than the 301 stainless steppers I really like, and shipping would be less, being lighter. An identical FJ in Lion's Head had steel step pipes installed by his Toyota dealer, and is on his third set already (rusting) in the first year.

I've emailed companies to see if they have any outlets near the Ontario border, but none have replied. Seems that California is the place to be.
Anyone with any info on US dealers near Niagara or Detroit would be appreciated.

Came across a good article in another forum that explains how to add another horn (hope it's OK to post another forum's thread).
It's accurate for FJ's as well as 4Runners. I think I paid $69US for the horn and bolt that attaches it to the fender. It definitely increased the decibels:
