I need to choose between 300 bucks for the VIP 3200, and the 500 Viper car alarm I could buy from bestbuy...

If you've got either what's your experience, loves, and hates.

Truck gets here sometime this week so I need to know quick.

Go with the Viper from Best Buy or Circuit City. I'd personally have a local shop install it. But the Viper with the cool remote, remote start, anti-theft and keyless entry, all for $600.00 installed.

Viper alarms = fantastic


Circuit City/Best Buy Installs = trouble waiting to happen


Find a standalone shop that carries DEI alarm products (The python alarms are identical, and hornets have all the same features with different remotes and on the am band), the install MAKES the difference when talking alarms, reliability and satisfaction.

vipers alarms are good..getting them installed at best buy bad idea..

I sold my '98 Tacoma this past Sat with a Viper 3200 installed (bought a 2007 Tacoma Sat. night...).
The only issues I had with the Viper 3200 was that I had my Taco in the repair shop (accident), and they did something to it when they unplugged the battery. It still worked, but when I'd beep it on, it would sometimes beep twice. The first beep was as normal. Then, every 3rd or 4th time, it would beep again like 10 seconds or so later. It was still armed, so I never knew what the 2nd beep was for.
Anyway, you won't be sorry with the Viper system. I had a stereo shop install mine, and it was something like $300 or so for the system, and $50 to install and program.
I'll probably put another one in my new Tacoma this week or next.

Man find a buddy that works a best buy to get you the x791. I got it for 275.00 and its so cool.

So why is having best buy install the alarm bad?

they don't know how to mount things or they screw up the wiring?
