Default Outer Banks Meet September 19-21, 2008

Well we just had a successful meet in myrtle beach, so with that in mind I think we need to start planning for the next OBX trip. We can start the discussion with the date being in sept....preferably the later part of sept. Camping, trucks, the beach, and good friends....what a great combination!!!

sounds good to me... I think that is currently the only place left that you can drive on the beach.

Sand washes off 100x easier than oilmud!!!

Can't wait. I nominate Oakracoke again. Camping is dirt cheap, like $10 a day/night? And the local yokel motels are equally as cheap, like $60/night I think. The motel was clean, not a crabby shack joint. And my motel was walking distance to the campground. (plus it had a hose for washing the Tundra, lol)

Also, beach driving there is awesome, no fishing traffic to dodge and a nice long route to the ocean. Hope hurricane season is over by then. I'd like to paddle out and not feel like I'm going to die this year.

I think we should shoot for 9/12-14 ...or... 9/19-21.
Sunday would be the I'm leavin early yall, or the let's hit the beach one more time!

You're in luck. There is a nice restaraunt there (I forgot the name) where you can drink. PYRITEship would feel right at home.

Okracoke Island is a small little town, similar layout to Key West, but smaller. The main attraction is the beach driving and surf casting. You have to take a ferry ride, about 40 minutes? to get there. So it is never crowded like a resort strip (ie., MB or VB).

Last year it was just lovely. Even with gale force winds the last day.
