Default Hey AZ Guys! Trails for rental jeep?

I'm in Pheonix for the next week and I'm tempted to rent a Jeep and explore some of the more mild of the trials around.
Can you all recommend some easy trails where i won't risk damaging my rental and keep the parents of my back...while still having a great time and seeing some beautiful scenery!!

Thanks guys, I'm having a blast blast so far. The weather is amazing out here! Maybe I can get my parents to retire out here and I'll buy an old yota and store it out here.

I've heard there are some nice trails up around Crown King (North of Phoenix). It's always fun to drive up Four Peaks as far as you can also. Right now there's a couple feet of snow up high, but it's an interesting ride and some nice scenery. Around 20 years ago, I went with some guys and took my 76 Blazer and we went completely over Four Peaks but not at the highest point. We ended up in Pumpkin Center by Roosevelt Lake. We took a different rount back. Another fun ride that doesn't require a jeep is the Apache Trail from Apache Junction to Roosevelt Lake. We drove a 73 Chrysler over that road (dirt, winding, cliffsides) back in 1975. We took the long way home through Globe and I60.
A good source of trails and fire roads is the Arizona Atlas and Gazeteer. It also has topo info as well as trails in it. Hope you enjoy your stay.

Let me know if you feel the same way when you come back in July or August and it is a "dry" 120 degrees in Phoenix and 115 or 110 down here in Tucson. Although I love the conveniences and job selection of Phoenix, I prefer to call Tucson home.

Unlike Phoenix, Tucson actually cools off at night. It can cool off as much as 30 to 40 degrees in the winter and the monsoon seasons. During a balmy, humid hot monsoon summer day in August where it is a 105 degrees and 60 to 70 perecent humidity, at night it cools off about 30 degrees down into the 70s. Tucson is about a 1000 feet higher than Phoenix.

AT least it cools down at night, in Houston it will reach 115 in the summer and not get much cooler at night...it's so humid back home that you don't even get a chance to get hot before you have noticable pit sweat...

I may come back this summer with my tundra and drive some of these trails i keep reading about...I'll have to get a locker first. I don't know how well i'd fair with an open differential in some of these sandy washes.

Crown King is a really good way to see lots of Az also on the way is Bloody Basin.
A quick run from 7 Springs to Table Mesa Road is close to phoenix and lets you see how bad fire season was here........

hope it helps............AZ

I just got back this past Sunday, I did take the apache trail(as per TempeTom's recommendation) all the way around and I must say it was amazing the views over the valleys were goregous!!
I will remember Crown King, as I plan to go back to Az on my road trip to cali/washington this summer (hopefull with my new Taco)!
I drove the Apache Trail in the Family Chevy Uplander...it workd out pretty well but the back seat passengers definatly complained about that 5ish miles of washboard..haha.
